bench show question

I have an 8 month old pup that needs 5 more points to make champion. Now, I think that a dog has to be 1 year old to actually get their champion status. Does this mean I can't show in champion class until the pup is 1 year old?
Thanks in advance.

maybe i missed something but unless things changed ,once you get the best of show and all the points .you can show in ch.class at 6/7/8/9/10/11/12 months or 12 yrs. old.
good luck, the faster you get the gr.show on the dog the quicker you can get started on the nite hunt titles.

keep on showing as some of the nailor and sacket jr. dogs will blow the hgt. standard by 12 months old. and some of the other breeds are doing the same thing cause some people dont know or care about breeding to conform to standards.and want to change the rules to to include their off standard breeding.

Dogs only have to be over 6 months of age to show, no age requirement for making CH or GR CH, so go ahead and show the pup and get that degree now. Good Luck and have fun !!

NOpe - absolutely incorrect. I've made champions as young as 7 months. Our Rocking W Boot Scootin' Boogie got her first BIS with competition the day she turned six months old, and three weeks and two shows later she was a champion the day she turned 7 months old after three consecutive BIS's. At one year she's still undefeated, three wins into her quest for grand. We're holding her off a bit now because she's turned out so nice I regret having "pushed" her and not given her a chance to show at some of the bigger events, so saving those last two wins for something a big bigger, like a purina event. Not knocking club shows - I get beat at that level lotsa times. Sure got taken down a few pegs yesterday ;0) - first show in five years I've left without a win slip.

Thanks for the quick replies. Someone had told me there was an age requirement (1 year) and I couldn't find anything in the rule book. Thanks alot for clearing that up for me.
