Dog's ear infection ???

Dog's Ear Infection - question's .

If you have a dog treated for ear infection it will cost 80.00 to 150.00 at the Vet to get the problem cured .

1, How many people has had problems with dog's ear infections this year ? the dog always shakes their head continually ?

2, What causes this ear infection ? i know of several cases , close to me and the Vet say's it's ear infection but no one knows what causes this infection , it's just something common dogs get .

3, The Vet will sell you Malacetic otic cleanser , and a canister of wipes , and, ( Mometamax medicine ) to fight infection .

4, I was wondering is there any alternative over the counter medicine that will cure ear infections in dog's ?

Thank's ,

James

Had one in a few months back that ended up costing about $300 that go around cause the infection spread down into her neck.

Prednisone, Chlorphenrimine (sp), Baytril (ear drops), Clavamox, and then Malacetic Ear Cleaner.

She's on a daily routine of Antihistamine..............still no dice.

She's been like that since I got her at 7 months old.

Lord forbid those ears get wet as the ears will really become infected.

Countless different feeds to rule out food allergies.

Looks as though it is airborne allergies. Worst different times of the year like when pollen is bad.

If they get an inner ear infection they can die while you are messing with home remedies. Pennicillan shots won't completly cure it either. Go to a vet if you don't get them over with home remedies pretty quick.

there are several different causes of ear infections. Could be mites, bacterial, or yeast as mentioned earlier allergies can contribute to cronic ear infections also. each one requires a different treatment.

We have fought ear infection after ear infection with one of our hounds. We had him tested to see what he may be allergic to and it seems his 2 biggest problems are cigrette smoke and the dog food he was eating. He's on a Purina Vet Diet now and it works real good.

I don't know that I have ever had a dog that had ear mites. I have had a few cases of dogs with yeast infection. The vet prescribed a tube of salve and that always took care of it. I would fire any vet that charged me $150.00 to diagnos an ear infection. I wouldn't even go for $100,00 on something as simple as an ear infection.

Jim,.............I wish all ear infections were simple as you put it.

I think you fail to realize, the cost is not for diagnosing the ear infection, it's the meds involved to clear it up.

Unfortunalty not all home remedies work for everything.
