How old has your hounds lived

Interested to see what most peoples hounds are living till. I raise a few different breeds including beagles, and for me, my beagles live around 12-15 years and my hounds live around 10-11.

My old dog is 13. He is the last of his litter. His mother lived to be at least 14 1/2 years old and they were still hunting her. His grandmother lived to be nearly 14.

i think alot of it has to do with the

feed you feed em in there life. my uncle feeds his hounds nothing but raw deer meat or raw meat of some sort hes done it almost his whole live. his dogs look like they are 5 when they are 10 and almost all of em die from hunting accidents before they ever reach 15. he has 2 that are 13 and 14 and they still hunt good. other dogs i have seen that get fed regular dog food usally get about 10 to 12 years out of em.

old scout

I had an english dog named Scout out of merks singing tapp. He lived to be 18 years old. At 18 years old he was still one of the best pup trainers around. He swam blue river one night and stayed treed for an hour while we went back to town, got a boat, and crossed over to find him treed up the biggest tree in the woods. Couldn't find the coon because it was a den.

He would have lived longer but we had to put him down. He had a tumor coming out of his rear end that he chewed about half off. it was gross and I knew he was suffering.

My first dog lived to be 15 and I had to have him put to sleep then or he might have made it to 16. I took him hunting for the last time when he was about 11 and hadn't been hunting him regular, then. He was alot like his old self, he got about a mile in, crossed a blacktop road was running a track and then shut up. I had to go after him. He was wore out, standing there, slobbering. I had to carry him out of the woods.

I've heard of hounds getting up to 17-18 years old but I would say on average 12-15 years. My first Plott was a month shy of 13 when she died...This is my ol' buddy Jebb, still going strong. He'll be 12 in January.
