help ?'s need answers fast

What are the best things to do to find a lost dog? I have posted on this board and the other one, contacted all of the coonhunters around that I know, and talked to all surrounding land owners where I lost her. Is there anything else I could do. I'm starting to think she ran a deer. If a hound does run a deer, how far do they usually run? I've been searching about a 5 mile radius. Is this far enough? I really need help, and would appreciate any you can give me. This female was recently bred and I would hate to lose her or the litter. Thanks.

well

put out a coat near where you turned her out. Contact animal control and shelters in your area. run an ad in local paper. put tons of miles on your truck in the area and speak to people you see especially folks walking for exercise. GOOD LUCK !!!!

SHelters...

...Call all the local shelters in the area she was lost but MORE importantly personally visit the shelters and LOOK at all the dogs they have in... coonhounds are often identified as the wrong breeds... also post pix and and the area she was lost in the LOST and FOUND sticky at the top of the forum. Some people may look on there....
PETFINDER.COM has a shelter search option... if you type in the town and state where she was lost it will give you a list of local shelters and rescues and you may find contact info there and also look thru the pix of found dogs...

Best of luck! Heather and Bob

Walk the fench lines in the area to make sure she isn't hung up. Also old home sites that might have wells she could have fell into. I'm assuming she wasn't wearing a tracking collar. Also around here animal shelters won't call if your dog isn't wearing a current dog license even if the number is right there on the collar. Had one show up where lost 7 days later .

i visited the shelters today. my wife is running an ad in the paper. i left my socks where i dropped her the same night. i was going to leave my coat but it was new. thought the socks would work. there arent any lakes around or fences for miles. there is a creek that has like 10ft very steep banks it is about 2miles away. i think im going to walk it tonight with another dog. hopefully he will tree loud enough to draw her in. i read the paper today and it said black white tan coonhound found. near carlisle, IN, thats about 15 miles from where I lost her. my heart raced as i thought i found her. i called the number and the lady said it was a male dog without collars. so my heart sunk back down. thank you for all of the suggestions. my family and i really sincerely appreciate it. this little hound is so much more than that, she is my one and only loyal hunting buddy, my two oldest boys favorite pet and my wife even likes the smelly old hound. she told me early the morning i lost her she would be in the house when she had her pups in january. again thank you all for your help and support.

I really hope that you find your dog, it is a rotten feeling to know that they are out there somewhere. I don't have any advice that hasn't already been given except to DO NOT GIVE UP! Keep on looking, she may be further than you think!

If you have photograph of the hound, print a flyer with all the circumstances and take it to all the grocery stores, gas stations, police department, dog catcher, etc. in your area. Also, put them in the paper boxes that most people have. Offer a reward. People will respond. Putting out the coat and checking the fence lines is also important. A dog can survive without food for about 7 days. After that, they start looking for a handout. Good luck. Keep us informed.

i will put a blanket out. i took my socks off that night, i thought that would be good. i am going to get my nephew and all of his teenage friends to form a search party for her. i figure if i get around 20 people to walk the woods all spread out we should find her if she is still in there. i just hope they have their walking boots on, its not a real wide woods but its a long stretch again thank you all for the help.
