Sorry I just saw this post.
Was wondering what are the benefits or what do you qualify for if you go to a sectional?
The Walker Sectionals are held on the standard UKC rules for a hunt. Awards are for the top four dogs, King & Queen of Show and High Scoring Male & Female in hunt. You will have 6 dogs qualified for Lee Crawford. Best of Show Male & Female, Ch of Ch Male & Female, Gr Show Ch Male & Female. In the hunt you will have 5 qualified Registered class 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place, NtCh Class and GrNt CH Class. When you show up for Lee Crawford, it gives you a chance to see what caliber of dogs are being bred. Its like you have the 'best' dogs from various clubs from around the country.
How does the Lee Crawford hunt and show work? And can you qualify for anything else at a sectional?
The Lee Crawford is held standard UKC format. Again, you are showing/hunting against the best out there. At Walker Days awards are handed out to various clubs for various accomplishments. There are awards for the club that hold the largest sectionals. There are also awards for Top Handler of the Year, Top Show handlers, Top winners for the most Sectionals won, and a host of other awards like the Hall of Fame Male & Female that year and awards for those who stand out as bettering the Walker breed as a whole.
I have also been told by many clubs that there seems to be more people that hunt/show at their club more when its a Sectional. That can only be good for the sport as a whole.
Thanks for your intrest and support of the TWBFA.
