Big 3 Bail out

are we, the taxpayers being asked to bail out the big 3 automakers, or are we bailing out their union workers who average 77 dollars an hour with benefits?

in my opinion it looks like their unions have almost made it impossible to compete with non-union shops like hundai whos workers average 44 dollars per hour with benefits.

have they negotiated themselves right out of a job?

im not against an honest days wage for an honest days work, but in my opinion the union has forced their employers to price their product right out of the market.

What about the big bonus sysytem for the upper management? What about cutting the top heavy management? Wonder what their average hourly wage is with benefits and perks. I hear all 3 ceo's flew SEPERATE, PRIVATE JETS to ask for bailout. Both sides need to be adjusted. But come on lets hear these figures!!

Yeah 20,000 would be nice but wheres the other 20,000 you would need to actually buy one. They want way to much for vehicles today. They have outpriced themselves.I have needed a new truck for the past 2 years. To replace the one I got would cost near 45,000. At no point in my life will I pay that for a new truck.

The days of overpaid union workers building overpriced, low quality, unefficient vehicles are over. The monster needs to crash and die, forever. But all those union workers will follow their union and watch their jobs, one by one, be taken by hispanics and asians who will work harder and cheaper both in our own country and abroad.

Throw all the money at it you want, it aint gonna make people buy vehicles. I like that coupon Idea, I'll take two.

But I would buy a ford after driving this 4x4 chevy the last couple years. I have a tool box full of pieces that have fallen off it, a dash cluster that had to be replaced, and it sounds like front end is falling apart every time I hit a bump. Only 70,000 miles on it. I'll try one ford then I'm going back to toyota.

Bail out

I guess I'd have a hard time using my $ to bail out 3 companies that continuously were giving zero financing to compete against each other, doesn't seem to be good business sense to me. all the while Toyota and Nissan continued to finance at aprox 5 .9% and seemed to sell enough vehicles to survive. Like a previous post said Hyundai workers got by on 4o.00 / hour, while GM was paying $78 with zero interest loans to the buyers, I say can the GM of GM !!!!!! Oh wait a minute , he was quoted as saying he now will work next year for a dollar if the tax payers bail his candy rear out........what a joke.......

What happened to the bench seat 3 speed on the tree, no air with roll up windows. No, we all need to be driving the space shuttle. They ran themselves out of business.

I have very mixed emotions about whats going on HOWEVER im not listening to everything the media is saying and im NOT falling for the poor quality of American autos. I see just as many foreign autos/trucks having issues that Americans do plus im not one to follow the leader when folks turn their backs to American auto makers. I'll keep driving my American made truck till I cant drive it anymore and if I can ill buy another used one lol If you all feel comfortable driving the toys and nissans go right ahead but I dont think they are all bells and whistles. No better gas mileage, less comfortable and cost just as much to own and drive. My last dodge went 250 thou miles and my chevy has 170,000 no major issues. My other chevy has 118 and a ford ranger with 118 also they all run good.
Why do we turn our backs to American made so easily???

Bail Out Perspective!!!

I'm not talking just about the auto companies. A lot of other industries are hard hit also. Where's their help going to come from?

$700 Billion Bailout. How much is that? Well, the population of our country is approx. 300 Million people. Do the math. $700 Billion divided by 300 million people is $2,333.33 each.

Now, let's put this in perspective :

Family Size --------- Amount
----1------------------$ 2,333.33
----2------------------$ 4,666.66
----3------------------$ 7,000.00
----4------------------$ 9,333.33
----5------------------$11,666.66

What's your family share of this $700 Billion Bailout based on the above?

(1) Do we really trust the management of grossly mismanaged companies to manage this money properly? I don't!!!

(2) These companies, though American in name aren't so much American companies as they are international companies. They are owned by investors from around the globe. So, it's really an international investor bailout for both foreign and American investors. Putting the companies in charge of this is the same as trickle-down economics (part of the reason we're in this mess). It's putting the fox in charge of the henhouse! So, we subsidize investors (American and foreign), and hope it trickles down and creates American jobs. That's not where I'd want to put my share of the bailout money!!!

Now, for my family of 3, my share would be $7,000. If it were offered as a stimulus as before, it would go straight into the bank. But, if it were use it or lose it, I would use it. So would every other family in America. Think that wouldn't stimulate the economy?
