This picture was taken is central Ohio on a trail camera. Ohio DNR says it is a Golden Lab. What do you guys think? I am just a coonhunter. Also can a bobcat have a long tail?

Looks more like some kind of big cat.It's ears look rounded like a cat. It's feet look more like a cat.

It's a house cat...your mind's eye is making you think it's allot larger than it really is. Compare the animal to the suroundings..the width of the blades of grass...the height of the weeds in the back ground. That's someone's tabby cat.

It appears to be a cat of some kind, but a mt. lion I don't think. hind quarters/ hips sure look catty, feet look catty, ears are hidden for the most part. it's eyes look like a rodent not a lion. the tail looks to be of a cat but the color of the whole thing don't look much like a mt. lion. check out some real mt. lion pictures on some of the western hunters websites and I think you will agree. www.redboneoutfitting.com

I have never seen a mountain lion personally except photos but it looks like a small african lion from the rear but it appears it's toungue is hanging out like a panting dog. It's a shame it wasn't in the center of the photo. It could be cur dog.

few ways to look at it... if it were a dog i believe there woulda been more pictures because of the fact a dog likes to nose and smell around and would be fooling around.. same theory with a house cat. unless something spooked it. game cams have big ranges at least the ones i own so most likely i get two or three pics of even the most timid animals if not more. and ive never seen a house cat with that color phase. but anythings possible? who knows

I might be wrong but those weeds in the back, look like the stick weeds with the yellow flower at the top that grow in the summer and dry out in the winter if not bush hogged they can grow about 6 to 8 foot not tryin to be sobbish s/s lol i might be wrong what type weed they BUT if im right thats about a 3 foot tall house cat there lol but idk lol

Yea, it's just too hard to tell with that photo. It does look pretty thick to be a mountain lion, and does favor a young african lion. Let's put it this way, I sure as hell wouldn't shoot that animal if I had a mountain lion tag without a better look than that.....so where was the picture taken again?

But seriously, a lab? Get real................

The tail looks like it gets a little to thin on the end to be a cougar. It also looks like the hair on the bottom side of the tail is longer than the top. I havn't seen a cougers tail do it quite like that. I just cant tell from that picture. One thing I will say is it looks more like a cat than a dog for sure.

One thing I've noticed over the years is that about every lion or bear that I tree looks different, so making a comparison to a "cougar" picture just doesn't get it. If there is a lion around it leaves tracks, and tracks don't lie. Go find the track and run that thing to the tree and then you'll know what the heck it is........

I had a pumper call me a couple weeks back telling me he saw a lion running down the road about two miles from town in his headlights the night before, so I went to look. Sure enough there was an adult lion track in the mud and old snow, no doubt about it!

i have a friend that lives in central ohio also. he has several pics of a mountian lion on his property and has lost several sheep from it. the game warden told him 6 had escaped from a local exotic pet farm and 4 had been killed. that leaves 2 on the loose.
he asked me to come and try to trap it for him....lol
i aint got a trap that big....lol i am gonna go down and try to call it in and kill it though. the game warden also told him if he see it again to kill it because its not a wild animal and there is no mountian lion in ohio..

get a lightfoot dog down there and tree that sucker....

I didn't even see the mouth before.Now my vote is dog.The hair on the rear and the tail had me thinking dog at first then I got myself talked into african lion but after looking a little better today I think its a dog.

I think I agree with the DNR. No doubt he was running and maybe from the mountain lion we wish we could see there. I believe it is a dog to....hanging tongue, look at his rectum lol and he may have been running a deer or something that didn't get in a photo.

are the first couple pictures i see that its a cuddy back camera
i have a cutty back and it always takes a serise of pictures i have never had just one picture with game running away always get some before trhey run. i think your just trying to pull someones leg sorry.....
