I have another HD question

What do you do if a club is using a Hunt Director because of low turnouts and only has one cast of dogs with no one else at the club besides the HD? As long as everything is ok, there would be no problem. But, what if the cast comes back in with a question? If there aren't enough hunters available who weren't involved in the situation, then how do you resolve it?

Good question but I bet the answer is that it will be the clubs rsponsibilty to put together a panel, no excuses so you better get on the phone.

That might be a good time for UKC to weed out the clubs that aren't really clubs because lets face it, if a club can't even cover the panel, then should they really be holding hunts?

really they should weed out all the small timers altogether. raise all the entry fees to $250 per hunt and get rid of all the wannabe competition hunters.................

Good answer Jim!!!

If a club can't even get its officers or board members to come to a club for such a situation, then I agree that club needs to go.

LOL.......about those questions.......our club holds about 30 hunts per year. 8 of them are UKC hunts. The rest are hunts that use a HD and more importantly, they require a cash bond to have a question heard. In my 6 years working the table at this club we have never had a single bond question come back....not one! I would guess our UKC hunts draw an average of maybe one question per event. But keep in mind that the new UKC HD questions will also require a cash bond ($20.00) to be heard. HD question will be rare!

well, ok, I agree with all of your answers

But, the question remains the same. What do you do if you're caught in that situation? Do you give the person with the question their money back and delete it all or what???? That would be the only way that I can see to resolve it in that situation.
Granted, I am giving you alll a worse case scenario, but we all know that it could very well happen too.

george, i believe that the hunt director is gonna have to find a panel. maybe go to the local grocery store, bar or convenience store (gas station).

oh well

If he or she gets them at the bar it should be interesting at the least, lol. I think I'll just try to avoid the whole HD situation altogether the more that I think about it. Sticking to the clubs that are willing to pay for a MOH seems to be the smartest thing to do in my book. If I hunt the other KC's then oh well, I'll just deal with whatever comes about.

The question I have is what if a question arises during the hunt and it is brought back to the hunt director. Does the panel have to stay at the club during the hunt with the hunt director or does the cast have to wait until the hunt is over and a panel can be formed? In my opinion the master of hounds format works alot better and I believe in the long run UKC will drop or modify the hunt director format.
