RMSF?

If you mean Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, yes. Why you ask?

I got bit by a tick this summer. I've pulled off plenty over the years never had a problem. I noticed it was a little red, it was on back of my leg and I forgot about it.

A few days later I started having headaches and fever, my lymph nodes started swelling. I looked at it and it was red and black. The doc said the treatment for rocky mountain spotted fever and lime diesease was the same. A lot of antibiotics.

My son got it when he was about 8 or 9. He developed Lupus from it and almost died. He's 21 now and as long as he doesn't get too hot, he does OK.

My good friend had RMSF a few years ago. She was really sick. She had joint pain for a long time, to the point that she could not stand up for very long at all. She recovered, but it took a while.

I had it at the beginning of the summer...

I finally got over it...mostly....sometimes I still get dizzy, if the sun is really bright and I still have the joint pain in my hands. It's really bad stuff.

Matt
It requires blood work. The hospital that I took my son to (he was 9 when he was bitten) said he was depressed and told me to keep him in "dark places for a while". OK.....
I went to our family Dr. on Monday and he sat in the floor with a HUGH book and talked to both of us until he got close to what he thought it was. This is rare around here. I thank God that he took the time with my son (who is now 21 and still struggles with heat and joint pain) Please get a second oppinion! For your sake as well as your family! It has progress to Lupus for Brooks.
Good luck and we will keep you in our prayers!

Cleo, Brooks and Dulin
