Pennies from heaven.....Part 1

Pennies from Heaven

For as long as I can remember, I have had a love for animals. Growing up on a dairy farm in Clinton, SC I was fortunate enough to be associated with all different species of animals. I can’t tell you how many calves I have had the pleasure of watching being brought into this world. Whenever one of the mammas needed a little help, I always there to lend a hand.
My love for animals has only gotten stronger through the years. I have had the pleasure of raising quarter horses and several breeds of hounds and spaniels. I went to school for veterinary medicine so I could learn more and treat animals myself. Through it all, it has been the unexpected little treasures sent by God that have won my heart to no end!
I think they might win yours as well.
I was at work in September a couple years ago when my supervisor, Donnie, (who just knew I was a sucker for a puppy) came up to me and told me his sister-in-law had a litter of Dachshund pups that were just about weaned. There were 4 to choose from. There were 2 males and 2 females. All deep red: stretch-red-bone, red! Of course I didn’t need another dog, but what could it hurt for me to go and see them?
Donnie called on a Saturday and told me his sister-and-law said the pups were ready to go. I rode up to Batesburg, SC to meet Donnie and his wife to go see the babies. Once we got to his sister-in-laws house, I thought to my self, I would simply peek at the pups and leave. How hard could that possibly be?
As we drove into the yard, I couldn’t help but notice the number of dogs that this lady had! Some in makeshift pens, some on chains and it looked like a male dachshund had the run of the place. He chased us from the main road all the way up to the front porch. I crept along scared to death I was going to run over him!

If you like it.....go to part 2 - Pennies from heaven
