New to the Board

Hi my name is Amy Dean, I live in Ohio. I brought home my first Black and Tan puppy Conner
(C-Cruz's Night Prowler) just a month ago.
Breeder Casey Stein Ramey and Kevin Ramey.
Sir: NiteCH GrCH 'PR' Fords Ole Eisenhower
Dam: GrCH 'PR' Stein's Oldtown Grace

I have been showing AKC for 10 years (Chinese Cresteds and Great Danes). And now I am hooked on bench shows since last Summer. I have been hunting for 16 years 14 years with Springers, and two with Chessies. I mostly hunt deer but in the past I have hog hunted in Texas. But I am ready for the night hunts. Married for 16 years, my husband Jim mainly hunts deer and has also gone bear hunting which he has gotten one. David (son) who is 26 hunts mainly deer but I do think he will go out hunting with Mom lol if wife Casey lets lol him. (someday she will give up lol ). Our Daughter Breanna who is just 15 years old hunts deer, but her love is fishing she loves Lake Erie, and the thrill of ice fishing. Breanna loves showing mostly AKC with her 9 month old Dane and next week, Her and I are traveling to WS to pick up her baby girl Martini who will be nine weeks old.

So for the next few months it will be training time here our Cresteds babies are 3 months old and Dane puppy, and Conner who has been training from the time I got him.

I went out on my first Night Hunt this past weekend with my Mentor Rachel Grimm and Brian. It was a charity hunt for a local family that was hurt in a car reck. It was set up for teams of fours to go out lol, so there was the three of us so Jim (husband had to go). The two men knew it was to cold out for the coons to come out of their dens but to shut us two women lol up they went. I learned so much even if there was no coon out. I learned what to watch for when it came to the dogs. I had a great time Saturday night no matter if there was a coon or not each time I go out is going to be a new adventure for me. So when Conner is old enough to go out He will be ready and so will I as a handler.

Thank You and hope to meet some of you from the board.

GIT RID of that pup before it makes a coondog because this coonhunting is more of a disease than a sport/hobby and once it gets in your blood there aint no earthly cure for it!!!

just kidding and good luck with your pup..I hope he makes a great one for you..

welcome aboard and its nice to have more of us buckeyes on here.
the word of caution posted above is very true. the long bawl of a trailing hound rolling over to a steady chop on a nice cool fall night will infect you with an uncurable disease. it only takes one time and its with you for life.
dogs doing what they were bred to do is what the game is all about. have fun and welcome aboard. there are alot of realy nice people in this sport and ive met a ton of new friends because of these dogs......

I saw Conner this week-end in New Philly. He is a good looking little guy. Come around to more of the UKC events. Like you said it is contagious and a lot of fun.
