Rule question

Ok 4 dog grand night cast, turn out and all dogs are stuck then all dogs are treed. when cast arrives 3 dogs are fighting an armadillo and the 4th dog is 50 yards away looking at you. when the handler goes and gets him, he notices blood on the 4th dogs nose. he was struck and treed with the other 3 dogs, Is he scratched?

For those of you who say scratch, If it had been a coon, would he get any plus points? No, then how can you scratch him?

How did they know the 4th dog had blood on his nose if he was 50 yards away? He was still carrying his strike points and at 50 yards, no one can say he has come into the cast so you can't handle him. Who can see a bloody nose at 50 yards? And there are 100 different ways a dog can bloody his nose without ever touching another animal. And why would you minus his strike points mrbluedog? Must be more to the story.

He was standing there looking at us, so the handler elected to get his dog and move, we saw the blood we he came back. We all know the dog was there with the off-game, but i guess he got a good break by leaving. minused both ways.

Yes, he is still considered struck in and carrying those strike points because at 50 yards, no way you can say he has come into the cast. Check rule 4(e). You cannot minus a dog for quitting a track, you can only minus them if they come in. And I still can't see any reason why that dog was handled.

Because the handler elected to accept minus points and call time out and move per John Boy's second post.

Just read the rule Troy. 4(e). You can't minus for quitting, they must come into the cast.
And Bill is right, he could choose to take his minus, call his dog off the track and call timeout.

You guys can keep them armadillo's down there!!!! I think the 3 dogs on the armadillo would be in the box and the other dog is minused on both ends. But that handler shouldn't of accepted the strike minus unless his dog came in to the cast. I would of made everyone shut there lites off and stand there with my fingers crossed hopeing that sucker went hunting!!!!!!!

when a dog quits a track and comes in he will be minused pretty plain and simple to me how do you not minus other wise every time the 8 is up everyone would just say he quit the track you can't minus him come on now lets not make the rules harder to understand then they are

John said the other dog was fifty yards away. So that means he didn't come in to the cast to be minused. So start the 8 on the dog. He's not minused until the 8 gets him or he comes in.

dont forget the dog that is 50yds away was declared treed.

id have his tree points minused and let him hunt. if the 8 got him or he came in, he would be minused.

if there was a coon caught there, he wouldnt be receiving plus points on his track. he is not showing the end of the trail like the other dogs.

sounds like the dog knew he did bad and was trying to sneak away as the handler came in...ive seen it..they either go hunting, or they dont after that. ive never seen them come back and do wrong infront of the handler after they got close though...

Yep he definatly deserves Minus for leaving the tree. I agree the dog probably did know he had done something wrong. But if the handler would have been on top of his game where the dog was might have saved him from eating the minus on the strike. Everyone probably new that the dog was there but no one seen him there. They said he had blood on his nose maybe he cut his nose on a briar! THATS MY STORY AND I"M STICKING TO IT!!!!!!!!!!LOL

You do have to see them. This has happen on a few cast over the years. How many times has a couple of dogs come back smelling like skunk but you didn't scratch them. You didn't see it but there is no doubt they were messing with off game!! Just a thought!!!

If everyone would except what there dogs do and take the points they deserve you would see alot better coondogs.I judge mine the same if we are at a hunt or just pleasure hunting and a dog that is just standing there looking at me is not running a track if so I don't want none of its blood cause you talk about standing on its head and not able to move a track.I DO AGREE IT WAS SCORED CORRECT

HUNT

All I'm saying is a slick handler ( thats the name For them on here ) would of and should of started the eight rather than excepting the minus. But I agree it was scored right!!!!
