My father's predictions ring true.

When I was 15-years-old (growing up in Canada) I was invited to an audition in Hollywood for a part requiring a young girl who could sing & was also an expert horsewoman. My mother was THRILLED & prepared to accompany me to Los Angeles. But my father informed us NO WAY! He said he wouldn't allow me to associate "with those Queers & Pimps." I asked him," what are those," and he said I was too young to understand. He said Hollywood, through movies had too much unfavorable influence on the morals & lifestyles of Americans. He added that they had so much money they could "buy" anything they wanted to promote. Of course I didn't believe my father's words, & I didn't get to go to Hollywood. Looks like my father's evaluation was correct - I believe Hollywood is largely responsible for Obama's election because the media was so biased & so overwhelming with extravagant, theatrical promotions & endorsements.

Hollywood

The entertainment world, with limitless funds has consistently influenced the public, not always in the direction of good morals and lifestyles - ex. Should teenage girls want "implants.?" Hollywood promoted Obama - does he represent ideal American goals & lifestyles or did he just begin to be "ideal" after he decided to run for President after determining he had a willing cash from the entertainers?

Hollywood only influences those who want to be influenced. There were plenty of big names that were pulling for McCain. I just didn't see what that had to do with a Father in Canada not wanting his daughter going to Hollywood, and most likely being let down, he was looking out for you.

But, somewhere along the line, you learned to think (educate) for yourself-possibly even learning to read.

I agree with you. But, it isn't just Hollywood... it's a mentality that defers parenting to Hollywood or television. It seems to me (my wife is a professor) that many of the young people who voted for Obama were taught thru audio and visual technology rather than being taught to think critically for themselves. In other words, the children we have created have so long been "babysat" by Hollywood that now, they take as gospel anything the media tells them. So, if the media tells them to vote for Obama, guess what happens?!

What has Pres. Bush done that is bad? Not that I agree with every thing he has done. I just don't think you can name very many specific things that he has done. I don't think many people can. It's not really fair to single you out. Your only one man but if you'll endulge me, I would appreciate it. My only real intention is to point out that most people that I talk to are just repeating what they are hearing everybody else say. George W. Bush has done more good than bad by a very large margin. You couldn't say that of Clinton and I don't think you'll be saying that about Obama. In fact, I'm as sure as I can be about Obama.

Clinton was the greatest president ever.

I really don't know how obama will be honestly. but there is hope at least.

Bush I credit with these two wars, something should of been done, but not the way it has become. he vetoed every health proposal that came across his desk, forien policies in general, he is taking the economic hit because he is in charge, that is just a fact, energy issues, I don't know what he could have done, I think some goes back to forien policies. what has he done for education, is that any better than 8 years ago? there was a balanced budget when he came in, what is that number today?
