pup digging

How can I keep my pup from digging out of her kennel I got concrete blocks where she keeps digging but that's not going to last to long because she's starting to dig under them

Cut her toe nails off!

Just kidding! Put her on concrete maybe. Some dogs really like to dig. I hate it too. When you figure it out let us all know.

I have an electric fence around the bottom and top. Keeps them from going under and over .

We used to raise rabbits and different types of fowl...Had lots of 2ft wide rolled wire around that was left from building cages...We cut it to the length of the pannels and slid a section of that wire under each pannel...The wire made like a foot wide 'cat walk' so to speak around the kennel. It lays flat on the ground and you hardly even know it's there. The dogs don't even think of digging under the pannels now. They don't even like walking on it...Wire is kinda costly now, but we made use of what we had laying around. It worked for us.

I was thinking of tying her feet behind her back. when she does get out its not like she runs off she stays beside the kennel or beside my older dog maybe its just a game to her to just see how long it takes to escape

I have crushed lime for the floor of my kennel. I put cattle panels about 4 inches below the surface. Dogs can only dig a couple of inches and they hit the panel. Filling the holes back in is pretty easy with a rake.

Once I put chicken wire around the bottom of the kennel and buried it just under ground. They dig until they hit the wire and then stop. Other times I have went more expensive and poured a concrete floor. Now I rent and move around some so I built 4 five by five wooden floor panels to make it easier to clean up after and it keeps them from digging. It also makes my portable kennel portable again as I can move all of it with me whether it is to another spot in the yard or to another yard all together. My current kennel has chicken wire over the top to keep her from climbing over and a wooden floor underneath to keep her from digging out and a clip on the gate to keep her from opening the door. I have referred to her as the great houdini with all of her escape attempts many successful but some not. Good luck with your problem.

electric fence is best way to keep a digger in, unless you can pour concrete. they have a hard time digging through it.

You won't believe what I used for digging

I went to Tractor Supply and bought some mats that you use in horse stalls. Now these things are HEAVY and thick and my hard digging red dog cannot do a thing to them. It's kind of expensive but I covered his kennel with them and no more digging. He won't stool in his kennel and he lifts his leg on the side of the kennel to pee so basically there is no clean up. Even if there was, you could just wash it down. My dog was driving me nuts with digging. He doesn't anymore!

we also put the chicken wire beneath the kennel. we covered it with several inches of dirt. what we got for wire was very heavy and stiff and we attached it to the wire sides of the kennel.
the only real digger we have is our english, jack. he doesn't dig to get out, he just digs. he'll dig around tree roots and such and tears them out of the ground. or he'll just dig a hole and bark at it. we hear him and just say there's jack doing his tremors. don't know how many of you remember that movie, tremors, about the worms coming out of the ground. we always joke that jack saw it when he was a puppy and now wants to protect the world from tremors. lol

Well patches I think my dog and your dog watched the same movie because she barks when she digs also I've got and old chain link fence I didn't think about I can put under it. I also started pouring a concrete slab but realized it started costing to much and a lot of work maybe I can finish it someday

I now have a concrete bottom on mine. However, there is another way. Put you up a dog pen and leave about 6 to 8 inches of wire loose on the bottom. Take post hole diggers and dig a small trench all the way around the bottom of the pen. Bury that wire and curl it back towards the inside of the dog pen. Cover it up with dirt. Every time the dog starts digging it's just gonna hit that wire down there. I've been told this works. Can't promise nothing. But mine ain't dug outta the concrete yet.

I poured a concrete pad 12X26 and and put 4 6X10 kennels on it and a nice tin roof over the top of it. It has been the best investment I have made to take care of my dogs yet.

well another thing that you can do is if you see it actually digging and you have a shock collar put it on it and watch for him to do it and then when he does it put the juice to him with out spending alot more money than you have to on concrete lots and what not
