Dry nose.

It has been often said that a dry nose dog has underlying health problems.I believe this is somewhat true. A dry nose could mean your dog is ill. But,this is also common if you live in a dry climate with very little humidity. Some breeds of dogs are prone to having a dry nose also.I don't believe a dogs nose has to be wet and cool all the time for the dog to be healthy. If the nose is dry and crusty or is becoming discolored,i would take it to a vet.I have also heard of dogs that are not given enough water will have a dry nose.I knew a man that put a little whole milk in his dogs water to help it.He claimed the fat in the milk coated the dogs nose to keep it moist. He said you have to change the water often to keep the milk in the water fresh. You could also put a little vegetable oil on it.Take care.

Dogs with distemper at an early age, may have a dry nose permanently.

Some dogs can have dry noses all their life with no side effects and with others it can be many things.
