2003/2004 RuleBook Question (bluebook) on Youth hunt

Am I reading the rule book wrong. On page 99 of the Rule book on Youth Nite Hunt rules. Rule 5 Championship Points:
B: States Nite Champion Dogs- 1st through 10th place: A place toward Grand Nite Champion.
This is how the rule reads but we was told last night by a Master of Hounds @ the NC Youth hunt that 4th place DID NOT recieve a
win toward Grand Nite. Is this true or is the rule book correct?
Yes there was plus points for this dog.

Thats a good question. The rulebook states what you said, but as recently as the June, 2004 Coonhound bloodlines, page 179, it says, "Nite Champion Dogs - 1st through 3rd place; a win towards Grand Nite Champion."

Evidently, there is a misprint, either in the rulebook or Coonhound Bloodlines, or the rule was changed by UKC at some point.

At the last youth hunt I was at, there was some confusion on this, and now I can see why.

Better ask Todd K or Tank for clarification.

There should have been a flyer in your hunt packet that explained this as it was a mis-print........top 3 nite Champions regardless of entries and age brackets get a win towards GR Nite, and the top 2 Registered dogs get a first place win (40 pts) and the rest get a 3rd place win.

The youth hunt I did in Iowa had the flyer to read for the MOH and also the cast members regarding this.......it might have been overlooked in the hunt packet.........

How was the turn out for the NC Youth Hunt ?????

Hope this helps

Wasnt over-looked Mark there was a stack of those flyers stating the youth hunt rules for the nite hunt and bench show it also stated the places a nt ch and reg dog would get, on the MOHs table. I did not Know about the misprint in the book though or i would have noted it to the crowd. Note: the youth nite hunt report is filled out the top 10 cast winning dogs with plus points. UKC when they recieve the hunt report will award the dogs with what they should get as far as nt. ch. or first place wins. You could give them a few weeks to get the report and give them a call. the copy i have show all winners to be 8 nt. ch. and 2 reg.

We'll get that little glitch corrected in the next printing of the rulebook this fall.
