Whining and gnawing at tree question

Almost 2 yr old pup that has ran free and trained itself. Real accurate havin meat. Flaw is he opens on track, will sometimes locate but then whines and gnaws on tree sometime don't bark at all. Dog will plum strip bark off a tree! When u get to him and tie bark he will chop like a pro. It's no problem if u huntin with a garmin and can watch for him to stop running. Any ever hear of this or better if anyone had a fix for it.? I can't think of what to do. I hate to cull a dog that can run a track like that and have meat. Any input would be great. Thanks

How would u use the shock collar? I'd be afraid that would run him off tree. I guess when he opens and runs track then hushes when he gets treed just bump him a little to see if that gets him barking? And I don't think hot sauce or spray would work cuz he will chop on tree when we get there. I need him to bark so we can get there. But shock collar could work If I know what or how I needed to use it. Thanks

I used no chew spray with some hot sauce mixed. But worked well for me at the time. Just had to repeat it every few months

Do u just spray tree as soon as u get there, and let them gnaw, then when heat gets to them that start barking? And after doing that a few times they start treein on there own?

The reason he's not treeing is BECAUSE he's chewing "they can't bark when they're chewing". The reason for the hot sauce is to make him quit chewing.
