walking it off

Can you just walk off the remainder of the hunt time?

Say you've just finished scoring a tree. You feel that you have enough score to get a win. No one else in the cast can touch you. And all dogs are on safe on the leash.

There are 20 minutes left in the hunt and it will legitmately take at least that to get back to the trucks.

is it ok to just let the clock run? or do you have to cut loose again?

No, the rules do not allow you to walk off 20 minutes. You could walk off 15 or less but not 20. UKC's position I think is thast you are suppose to hunt 120 minutes. In fact when you sign the scorecard, you are certifing that the cast did, in fact, hunt 120 minutes.

Well

Why than don't they hunt the whole two hours in the twenty of the WOrld Hunt. They say all the dog has to do is tree a one coon and you are done. I'm not saying you guys are wrong, but it kinda contradicts it self.

Jim is right again. You have to cut them. The world hunt use to be you had to hunt 2 hours by yourself. They changed it because the point of hunting alone is to prove the dog can do it alone. You have 2 hours to get it done and come in with plus points. You keep the same scoring as usual so theoretically a dog can minus out by itself. But if they tree a pop up in 5 minutes the dog has proven it can tree a coon alone and you can go to the truck.

I AGREE WITH THE REST. IT SAYS YOU HAVE TO HUNT 120 MINUTES. NOT WALK 120 MINUTES. LOL.
