just curious on how good the hunting is in illinois where the finals will be held , i am hunting in the ashland ohio zone i know there will be alot of coon but never hunted in illinois does anyone know what type of terrain , hunting , and predictions on the scores

I would expect several coon to be scored on most casts and very few, if any, dead casts.

I was there at the zones last year. Fri. night we drove a ways and hunted some conservation ground and scored 3 coons. Sat. night we hunted close, fairly hilly ground with nice big timber in the draws and corn/fields/pasture on the ridges and scored 1 coon. It looked like coonhunting heaven to me but I thought we would have scored more coons. I'm sure we had a lack of dog power, lol.

You should have no problem getting into coon, regardless of your guide. Mostly rolling hills with timber, creeks and corn. If you draw out to the east, you may hit a few more fencelines. Some bigger creeks or small rivers, depending on your draw, but very few or no swampy areas.

You're usually struck within a couple of minutes. If you go longer than 5 minutes without a strike, you'll begin to think that something is wrong.

Fairly easy walking and while there are some hills, most of them aren't too big.

We had 18 of 19 casts at last Saturday nights RQE turn in plus point cast winners, but the scores weren't overly high. 575 was 1st and 250 was 10th. The caliber of dogs at the Finals will be better, so I'd expect somewhat better results within casts and higher scores overall. I think the hunting will be a bit better in September, too.
