Dancer was a son of Spring Creek Rock....

Coon treeing type dogs that have big heart, and can run a track....

Can be kinda gritty....but overall were balanced dogs.

Dancer was direct out of GRNTCH Neosho River Jet, and his Dam was GRNTCH Minkler`s Kansas Kate. He was heavy Spring Creek Rock Bred. He died at a young age. I believe around 4. If he would have lived a full life he would be way up there as one of the best reproducers in my opinion.

I had a Dual Grand male in the late 90`s that was out of GRNTCH Neosho River Crimestopper X GRNTCH Minklers Kansas Kate. Crimestopper was direst out of Neosho River Jet. The way I understood they bred Kate to Jet which got Dancer, and a year later Jet had died and so they bred her to a son of Jet, which was Crimestopper, and got the male I had named Peacemaker. I have had a couple sons and daughters of old Dancer in the past. I have also owned several Neosho River bred hounds. The ones I have had was all great lookers, big mouths, best layup type dogs I have seen, good about having coons. The ones I have seen would not leave a tree from any dog. They would hunt hard, but not as quick as about getting deep in the country for what I like. I have had some decent strike dogs out of this line, but for the most they were 2nd or 3rd strike dogs. Peacemaker zig zagged through the woods mostly with his head high in the air smelling for coons to be up. He was dangerous about popping coons up on bad nights behind other dogs.

Nathan Lattimer has alot of that blood around with Late Nite Bubba, and the jet latch dog, he lives in Ohio. Randy Smith has the Sons Missouri Dancer dog, he lives in Missouri, Jeff Sayler has the Cheeta dog that is double Dancer bred. You could do a search and ask them. these are just some I know there is more out there I think its getting harder to come by. Hope this helps

I still have a grand son to Dancer that at 12 years old is still one of the best I have ever owned. He is off a full older Brother to Dual Grand Minklers Kansas Mercedes and is just like Chris described Peacemaker. Dancer was Spring Creek Rock bred on the bottom side and like was mentioned off of Neosho River Jet which goes back to all of Ken Maynard's stock of Burning Fork Dogs in Kentucky. This line of dogs has suited me better than any I have ever walked behind. Too bad its getting so hard to find. Its good to see guys like Nathan, Jeff Salyers and all the guys pushing the Neosho River stuff keeping this type of hound out there for us.

I have a female that goes back to Kansas Storm and Kansas Dancer, she is 100% no nonsense get treed kind of dog. Has a heart bigger than 3 dogs. Real tree dog, she is a good reprodcuer as well. She is a little high strung, and that kind of sucks sometimes, but I am glad to have her, and will have her until she dies no doubt.

IMO Kansas Dancer was the most underrated Walker Stud that ever lived. Either Dancer and Spring Creek Radar.

I agree that Spring Creek Radar was an underrated stud. I bred to him a number of times and always got nice pups that also looked good in the woods.

Kansas Dancer

Ukc Performance Pedigree shows Dancer sired 450 pups. 15GN and 34 NC. That is almost 11 % hunt champions. Dancer was bred to a female called Fultz' Singing Susie and that is where my present dogs decend from and are being crossed back to a double bred Kansas Dancer dog called Gr Nc Tree Grippen Joe. I like the Dancer bred dogs as good as any and seems they produce as good or better than most.

Someone with more historical knowledge than me help me understand....

I always thought of Dancer as being a descendant of the Neosho River bred hounds.....am I wrong?

What is the difference between Dancer breeding and Neosho River breeding?

Joe-

You are right, Dancer was out of Neosho River River jet. The only difference between Dancer and the Neosho River breeding is the addition of Spring Creek Rock on Dancers bottom side. I guess the argument could be made that Dancer is a Neosho River hound since he was sired by jet. This just seems to happen anytime a stud dog is made that reproduces and a different name is used other than the kennel name of the founding strain for the hound, sort of starts a new line even though it is basically the same. I think I confused myself, but I am not sure lol. I guess my question would be, doesnt a line change everytime an outside female is added to the mix? or is it still considered the same purely off of who the sire is? You brought up something to ponder Joe.
