We're back!

Well, some unfortunate turn of events have kept us away from the message board and the dogs these last few weeks. Shamefully, none of our dogs have been in the woods since July 1st. Some things just can't be helped though, and this was one of them.

Finally got back out tonight. Have a young female that hasn't been worked with in the woods any. Got her a few months ago as a show dog, figured we might as well see if she can hunt!
Caught a coon last night that's been in the corn, he's given us a lot of trouble so figured we owed him some!

Thought we'd let the older dogs show Envy (young walker girl) what it's all about. First, wanted to see how she did on a caged coon.

I liked this one, it looks like Magic (redbone) and Gunner (english) are talking to her.

Here's Magic and Gunner getting started... Envy hung back and watched at first.

Didn't take much encouraging to get Envy excited about it too!

A good start to a nice night. Hoping for many more to come!

Yeah, Envy really started going after it after the coon started slapping at her. I think it made her mad! She's a prissy little thing, but we were glad to see her enthusiasm.

As you can see Heather, Magic is not as fond of caged coon. She will get going on one with encouragement enough to get another dog going though and that's all we needed. She'd much rather chase one than stare at it in a cage. LOL.

Gunner's a goober and will bark at a coon dead, alive, in a trap, or what ever.

Andrew's going hunting tonight. He's taking the camera so maybe we can get you some more shots of Magic doing her thing! I know you like her.

Yup, I do like Magic Very much! Hope he gets some pix!
You know, Bob and I know nothing about training... and barely anything about hunting... We had one trapped coon here and decided to see how Wyatt(our retired blue) would react and IF the BnT would have a clue... we also knew our old greyhound would think it was pretty cool... They all had plenty of interest after the BnT realised it wouldn't hurt him... the greyhound needed to be held back because HE was going to EAT the cage... and Wyatt acted like a dog should if he's hunted and hasn't seen one in a while(he was VERY excited) What amazed US was that as SOON as we killed the coon(we trapped it for killing chickens)...Wyatt shut up and wouldn't even look at it or smell it! THAT was cool.... the BnT NEVER dropped his interest...LOL... he still get excited when he gets near the hide hung on a wall in a barn.... it is now deteriorating... and when I feel REAL mean.... I'll take just a bittle bit of Fluff off it...LOL... and stick it in the pine trees to get him to wind it when Bob takes him for a walk around
It all interests me... it's very different but very similar to horse training......... each of the animals is so different BUT they all have such similarities too.... Pretty cool...

Had a friend drop by "for a few minutes" tonight and he left at 1 am! LOL. No hunting tonight, did good to get the dogs fed. Feel real bad about it to, Andrew was all ready to go and about to leave the driveway when they got here.

Oh, well. Tomorrow night then.

REAL LIFE! Good old drop in guests. Hope you had a BLAST with your friend... sometimes those are the best visits... sometimes Well??? I'll bite my tongue....LOL....

The dogs look great....Envy is really coming on nice. I knew just the time she was here, she was gonna be a real 'go git er' ! Looks like she is filling out a bit. She is one sweet little girl..Gunners colors are showing up real good in these pics. Is he getting a little darker? He is such a nice looking hound. And ya know I have to agree with Heather about Little Miss Magic !
She is just absolutely gorgious...Hehe, ya know I am a little partial anyways..lol.. I have a couple of awesome pics of Tracker and his kids treeing..We set a drag and strung a cage coon up in the tree for the pups. They did a great job tracking and treeing on that coon...I can put them on here if ya like or just send them to ya...I know you guys would like to see them..The pups are doing great !! I could not be any more proud of them...
Got a guy coming over here today to work a couple Trackman pups that he just got...He is real excited about them..We just met him at the Somerville, TN coon club last night. Went out and had a great evening with them..Talked hounds most of the night..We have been on the road quite a bit showing and water racing with Tracker...We haven't had many free weekends to visit any of the local clubs...We had a nice time just chilling close to home...We have 2 weekends back to back for water races in Missouri. 3 weekends on the road including AO if we get to go. Both of my folks are not doing well, health wise... Everything is literally being planned day by day.

Hey Sabrina, go ahead and put your pics on here if you want, I'd like to see them! You know the last show we were at was the one you came to in Sparta! So bad of us, but seriously, just haven't been able to. We have had several very ill family members and Drew had craziness going on at work while he was going through finals at school... just to much "life" stuff to deal with the dogs.

That's behind us now and we're sooo happy to have the time to be working with them again.

Would love to get Magic in water races and especially field trials, she is the fastest dog we have ever seen on the ground! There aren't any of those near us though. We're hoping to fix a pond up here to work with her on it, then maybe find someone within a few hours drive next year.

Envy is doing much better, there for a while we could not put weight on her and could not manage to keep her put up. She would climb, jump, bark, dig.. UGH!! She's on good behavior now though and as long as she behaves herself will stay here. She's a really nice looking dog, doig well on the bench so far. Hoping to make her dual purpose. Just have to wait and see.

I know what ya mean about life stuff...Both my parents have been ill...My mom first and now my dad...Gosh and while at Kentucky Houndsman event, my son was hospitalized for tonsillitis...He was down and out for over 2 weeks...He was bad sick for a week before that...Just thought he had a bad case of summer flu or something...But he for for real sick !! Anyway, I will get some pics up after supper...Got some stuff going on the grill right now...

Thanks! She's my husbands baby. That dog could do ANYTHING and he'd let her get away with it! She is a sister to S/S' s Tracker dog who should have some pics up on this thread here soon. They look so much alike it's scary.

Envy came from Kimberly Ireland in Missouri. She's only 9 mo. old and was bred by a Brian Rayl. Does that sound familiar? We just recently started messing with Walkers so I'm not to up on the bloodlines and breeders of them yet. We were all redbone those first few years, not sure when that changed. Just decided to not be breed specific anymore and went looking for dual purpose regardless of breed. We currently have 1 redbone, 2 walkers, and 2 english. Oh, and a walker female on loan from a friend!
