There is also a DVD out called "Tree My Dog" which shows a man working with pups at about 6 weeks old with scent. He then goes through different stages of their lives and shows how he works them. One litter had a couple pups doing things right at an early age. I suggest the DVD not to say you should work with 6 week old puppies but to suggest spending time and having a method of training goes a long ways when it comes to developing a coonhound pup. The wrong method or the correct method applied wrong or over done can also have detremental effect so be careful have fun and deal with each pup on how it is responding to your training.

If you or anyone else would like more information on this video or how to get one you can PM me.

i know someone who would put send on a rag, or blanket, and put it in the pup's dog house, then as they get older take it out and run drags (w/ sent on a rag) and hang it in the tree and see what they do.
where can you get coon scent, all i can find around here is coon pee.

Don't put it in the house...

The dog will get tired of it and have no desire for it.
