Garmin Astro Reset

Does anyone know how to do this? My Astro unit's range has significantly decreased and it was suggested by Garmin to try this. The problem was the guy on the phone told me the wrong way to do it. I was hoping someone else might know how to do this, so I don't have to wait on the phone for 30 mins. Thanks in advance.

What is it that you are trying to "reset"...?

You can reset them back to factory defaults, but that is not going to help your tracking range.

If you are trying to recalibrate the compass...that's one thing.

I've found that once in a while it is best to recalibrate the compass....then delete the collar and re-add the collar.

If you need directions on how to do either of those things, I can help you...but your gonna have to define "reset" for me a little.

Trap,

You should recalibrate any time you change batteries, or after temperature changes of more the 20 degrees (I think)

Simple process, and you cant go wrong doing it once a night...

To Calibrate the Compass:

1. From the Dog Tracker page or Compass page, press Menu to open the options menu.
2. Select the Calibrate Compass menu to pen the Calibration page.
3. Select START and follow on-screen directon for holding and turning the unit
*A "Just Right", "Too Fast", or "Too Slow" message appears notifying you to adjust your turning speed, as needed. Hold the unit level while turning.
*A "Calibration Successfull" message appears when finished. Press ENTER to exit.
* If a "Calibration Failed" message appears, repeat process.

I believe the reset was to go back to factory defaults. I will try to recalibrate the compass and see if that helps at all.

Reset to factory defaults.

MENU, MENU> Advanced>Settings>System>Menu>Restore defaults.

Joe

This is different than what I was told on the phone. Mine was to hold the power, map and enter button at the same time to reset.

Then again it didn't work, but I thought maybe I had the wrong buttons.

It had something to do with the Astro receiving corrupt data and cleaning that out.
