I was wondering what the policy of single registered dogs for DNA is. I think every dog that is single registered should have to have a DNA profiled on them. Why? Maybe this dog is already registered or dog has been stolen, or fight over papers and the party wants to single register the dog. I think this is a good idea? What does everyone else think. You should not be able to register a dog that is already registered.

I agree 100%. This science is available and proven and we should make the most of it.

The single registration program should require the inspector to take a DNA sample when the dog is inspected. This would make it more difficult for someone to use one dog to get through the single registration process and then place the papers on another dog.

It won't be too many years before a DNA profile is required on all reg. dogs, we might as well get used to it so the single reg. programs would be good places to make it mandatory, ASAP.

dident they have dna in the oj case?kinda like the two cats i saw wile back that was cloned dna was sposed to be indentical.. one cat was a calico the other cat wassent.but on the other hand i bet if you checked the dna on some dogs from way back they wouldent be off that stud in their ped at all.an if they really got into it what would you dog with all those reg dog void their peds ?
i dont need dnap stamped on my papers to tell me its a coonhound. ill judge that in the woods..

I think Papa hit a good point. If they could prove the lineage several generations back, I would bet that there would be a fair percentage of dogs that would prove to not be out of the dogs they are claimed to be out of. Some by error, some by cheats. I personally think they should leave the single registration as is. If the dog proves to be other than what is claimed, the responsible person should make it to the cheater's list. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

How to we know of he needs to be on the cheaters list if we cannot DNA the dog to prove he needs to be on the list?
