MOH rule

What are the rules of a master of hound's dog or a family members dog being hunted in a hunt where they are the master of hounds?

12. MASTER OF HOUNDS: (Must be UKC Licensed) Master of Hounds will hear each viewpoint and have last say. Remember, handler may state his case plainly, but if unreasonable, his dog may be scratched by Master of Hounds or Judge. Scorecards must be finished in the woods and no changes later except where a question arises and is noted in the woods. Master of Hounds must be at the clubhouse at all times. All scores must be posted after the posted deadline or when all scorecards are in possession of the Master of Hounds. Master of Hounds and their spouses cannot enter a dog in a UKC Licensed Nite Hunt where he or she is serving as Master of Hounds. Their dogs cannot be entered by a handler.

Yes a Master of Hounds "offspring" may participate in a nite hunt. But when it comes to Bench Shows; different story. Immediate family cannot participate in bench shows.

My guess is because its alot easier for favortism to affect the outcome of a show than it is a nite hunt.

Jay, I did not have a part in implimenting this policy so I can't say what the exact thought process was. I would assume along the same lines as what Coopercreek mentioned. The nite hunt is more dependant upon the ability of the dog versus a show where the winners are selected based upon the opinion or knowledge of a person. ???

I CAN UNDER STAND SOME OF THAT . BUT WHAT IF THERE WAS A QUESTION ON THE CAST . AND ITS WAS ONE OF THERE MASTER HOUNDS RELATION. THE MAster hound can show farortism . to his relation to. and know that wouldnt be RITE . but it could happen just as easy as the show. ALL I WANTED TO KNOW WAS A ANSWER. THANKS JAY

it doesnt matter whats said or done to change any of the rulings people are still gonna find a way to cheat the system. Thats why hunts are not gonna even exist if things arent done to make them more fair

In a hunt a handler can file a formal complaint based on 3 other cast members say,and you can back to that testamony as many times as you want. In a show how would get both dogs put back up just like they were the day of the show to see if the judge was wrong. It IS A VERY GOOD deal that UKC lets the judges kids hunt. Now if we can just get them to let the master of hounds hunt in the hunts it would make my life alot better.( Hard to guide and finish dogs when you have to donate your time at every hunt). I DO NOT want any one to think that I am upset but when you judge alot of the close hunts it gets real expensive having to travel to other clubs so I can hunt. Gas $$$
