Give him 1,000 to 1,500 mgs of vitamin C. They did a study with fox hounds and it helped a lot. I know that when I overexert and take vitamin C I'm not as sore the next day.

After you think he has had enough, let him lay up for 3 or 4 days. that is when muscle building will happen the fastest, during rest. Then he will take even more before he breaks down.

I hunted my female 14 nights in a row dark till daylight when she was 16 months old, let her sleep for 3 days then have never had a problem with her getting worn out. People said I was pushing her to hard, but every dog is different and I had a feeling she could take it. She came out of that a 100% better dog I had just gotten here a month before and she hadnt been messed with to much, so I guess that is how she started. I had to give her B12 the last three days to keep her eating and going right.

Must my opinion and what I did

Supplement

We use Vite Lite Powder. We mix it with water and pour over the food whenever they have had a hard night. We use it a lot for our bear dogs. Works great. We get it from our vet.

What kind of feed are you giving him and how much? Does he have access to water while hunting and do you give him a chance to get a little water between turnouts?
