all i can say is you better hunt your dog here an get him used to it. its steep in places and straight up an down in most. coons are a little hard to tree sometimes. if you have feeders its pretty easy. but i wouldnt trade huntin here for nothin

Coondog

A coondog is a coondog anywhere but walking those mountians will get you a little tired sometimes. lol. I think its good to mix it up a little though.

I hunted there in the Zone semi's in 2003. I hunted some nice places but there are some hills and mountains. The coon population seemed to be good though.

They kind of just cock their head sideways and sit down.

Good coon population, depending on where you get drawn out to go, some places may push your dog, some places may push u lol, the dogs should b ok if they are in good shape, which if you get that far i guess they have to be in shape neway.

You guys really need to put more thought in this that just draw a name out of a hat and have it there!! The way it looks I will not go to it. I will be at a pkc hunt somewhere.

UKC knows plenty about this area. They know what kind of membership they have, how well they have done in the past putting on zones, and how many coon they score on etc.

I can tell you they have a very good coon population, it's not thin coon at all.

The dog will have to go huntin more than they would in Indiana or somewhere else where theres coon thick as squirrells, but it is pretty common to score on 4 or more coon in a 2 hour nite hunt there.

It's not that rough, it's not easy, but it ain't what I would call rough huntin either.

I can honestly say every time I have been to Rogersville they have been A#1 in every way.

UCK won't regret having it at Rogersville, I can tell you that. It's a great club that has plenty of coon and territory to put on a good hunt.

If you come hunt you won't regret it either.

From the sound of it seems like the handlers need to be in shape for this one more than the dogs lol

They have trouble cause no matter how good of shape they are in runnin in these mountains is harder. One race here is like five or ten on flat ground. I know my NITECH female is a decent dog and she trees coons here. But, I've seen her put up 4 or 5 in a couple hours in swamps and flat ground.

There is some good huntin in East TN just gonna depend on who you draw.

Very true, it takes a dog in shape to do it right in the mountains, that's for sure. It takes an athletic built dog.

But honestly your huntin around Crossville/Spencer is much rougher than it is around Rogersville, and Rogersville has an excellent coon poplulation compared to where you are at (unless you hunt the valley of course LOL).

So is it more the dogs being in shape are the trailing the coons in the mountians that give them the trouble
