How Many Of You?

How many of you are public educators? I have been curious as to how many here are teachers. I am an elementary school PE teacher. I also coach football and wrestling at the High School. I am seriously considering dropping the coaching aspect to make more time for hunting. Wondering if any of you balance teaching and hunting as well. If I drop teaching I will begin master classes in order to become a principal. Gotta make some money to support my hunting habit.lol

This is just a post to get the pot stirring lets hear some different jobs from you all.

Also a side note I have noticed a lot of big time coonhunters (the winners) are self employed I wonder what the commonality there is?

I teach Hunter & Trapper Education for the State of Ohio. I have been doing this for 6 years now. The big thing with this is most of the classes are the frist week Ohio Bow season and the spring bird season. But it is for the kids and their are alot of deer in the woods.

Teacher

I teach high school math. I also coach football and baseball and run a baseball team in the summer. Football season is the hardest time to coonhunt because it is a 6 1/2 day a week job with scouting, films, weightlifting and practice. I still find time to pleasure hunt, but the competition hunting takes a break during football season.

Even though the leaves are thick and it is hot in the summer, it is still my favorite time to hunt. We have summers off, so it is common to find me out in the woods 12am-6am 6 days a week during summer vacation. Many mornings I will come to weightlifting with my dogs in the truck.

I am also finishing up my master's...

The funny thing is that I am prolly at my house during the school year a total of 1 hour while I am awake and 4 hours for sleeping. I hunt just about every single night of the week. I like it, it keeps me out of trouble, and I have something other than sleeping on the couch to look forward to when I get home from school.

I homeschooled my 3 boys until they went back to PS in 11th grade. Does that count? My two youngest are now seniors. Not twins.. the youngest is actually 2 yrs younger but he is advanced.

I took early childhood education classes in college but never pursued further.

I'll stick to training dogs. Much less sassy.

Teacher

I am an elementary school teacher and a high school baseball coach. Right now is the hardest time to hunt because the days are so long and spring baseball. If we turn loose at dark it is around 8:30 p.m. It is a good job to have in the winter and the summer!

I teach Jr. High History and coached baseball and basketball up until this last year. As much as I love coaching it gets to be really hard to balance family, kids, and coaching. I also hunt year around pretty hard, but I truly enjoy the summer break for hunting.

I teach high school phys ed and coach football. Also do our strength and conditioning all year round. I coached girls basketball for 5 years but gave that up because it was cutting into my hunting being gone all the time.

nice to see so many great teachers... have taught at college level for many years, but also worked in public school teaching-coaching and adminstration... used to hunt after games etc., many all night, but was much younger than... today only teach 2-3 classes a semester and now can teach as much and when I like... nothing better than teaching and teachers, keep up the great work, much valued and needed...

Hey,
I'am a custodian at our high school. Hope this counts because I have to put up with all you teachers.(lol) I work 6-2 and it's hard getting up at 4:30am when you get in at 1 or 2 in the summer. It's not that bad during season cause you can turn loose around 6-7 be back home early.

I taught Agriscience for 20 years. I currently hold a district position as Cooperative Ed. Coordinator. I also am a member of the adjunct faculty at a local university. Summer doesn't help my hunting much since I'm a 12 month employee.

I want to be a Kindergarten teacher or a Veternarian. If I become a teacher then I want to work at a small school. I would like to be a Vet but I want a family to and thats a 24/7 job.

Although I work in the Automobile Industry...

I'm an Educator.....OF T-BALL! (does that count?)
This will be my 5th year Coaching and have loved every minute of it!!! There's nothing more satisfying than teaching little ones the fundamentals of the game. Watching them go from stumbling over their own little feet from the 'T' at the batter's box to second base, onto first base, then to third base....that always makes me giggle, to actually hitting a pitched ball and running bases like a miniature pro ball player, there's no better feeling.
I make 'my kids' a deal at the beginning of the year...."OK, it's like this munchkins, I'll give ya one lost game. If you can go through the entire game season and loose no more than one game, COACH BUYS PIZZA!" I have to say, the last 4 years, the week of the last game, THIS COACH IS BROOOOOOKE!!!! Boy can little people eat!
