Around 1946 tha attendance at the Field Trials sliped alittle, So the Field Trial Org. Thought up a new Game ..
COON ON A LOG..

The Log had a certin Dimmention Which was 3'-6" long and no more than 14 " in dia.

The Log and Coon was Anchored in simi swift water 15' from the bank..

Then when a hound was released it was timed on how fast He or She could Dunk the Coon.. Even the Size of the Coon used was important factors..

But this Event soon Fell to opposition to the Crulity to Animals Legues..

Great Post...I have a huge stack of old 50's and 60's coonhound magazines.

What is sad is that the coonhunters of yesteryear would roll over in their graves if they could see how we have allowed people within our ranks to vote in and support anti hunting politicians who pander to the animals rights groups and help destoy the very sport they say they love.

can rember going to the coon on the log thing,,last one i went to 3 dogs got drowen...that was several years ago...david boggs...ps glad you posted this good reading thank you
