Who is feeding it and what kind you feeding??
Ive tried the Large Breed Puppy, Puppy Select, Adult performance and Adult Lamb and Rice. I really like this dog food.

Hey guys,i was talking it over with my vet and he was telling me that it acn cause kidney failure,and after talking with other ppl to once i run out i wont buy any more but i've feed it for 3 years. just letting you know. joey

Does high protein cause kidney disease?
No. This myth probably started because, in the past, patients with kidney disease were commonly placed on low-protein (and thus low-nitrogen) diets. Today, we often put them on a diet that is not necessarily very low in protein, but instead contains protein that is more digestible (therefore producing fewer nitrogen by-products). These diet changes are made merely because damaged kidneys may not be able to handle the excess nitrogen efficiently. In pets with existing kidney problems, nitrogen can become too high in the bloodstream which can harm other tissues.

Unless your veterinarian has told you your pet has a kidney problem that is severe enough to adjust the protein intake, you can feed your pet a normal amount of protein without worrying about "damaging" or "stressing" your pet's kidneys. Also, keep in mind the fact that you are not "saving" your pet's kidneys by feeding a low-protein diet.

Pro plan adult chicken and have tried the lamb and rice, performance is the first 30-20 blend i have ever tried and have not had a bit of trouble with been using it for all most 6 months now really like it

If you are hunting hard , the extra protein , fat and carbs in the food is used .. it don't go anywhere but to the muscles and such.

If you aren't hunting hard enough to burn up a high protein food , who cares what your hound dies of ... just don't get another hound and do the same thing to it .

Vets are like commercials for eggs , pork and beef .... it goes back and forth depending on what industry is paying for the ad .

anything with a high protien levels and cause kidney problems. its not just purina its black gold, diamond, pride..and anything with high protien. we had a dog that ate black gold everyday in his life and hes was 9 1/2 when he died of kidney failure. we have feed everything you could think of and the redbones and the english dogs love the pro-plan performance. hobbit want anything but pro-plan.

I feed ProPlan 26/16 chicken and rice. Got a dog with allergies and Pro Plan was on the list of things he can eat. Coats look good and they have great muscle tone. I have fed ONE in the past and liked it too.

I have been feeding mainly performance since season started. This summer I fed half adult chicken/rice formula half performance. Best stuff I have ever fed. Now if it could only make them tree more coon

We use Pro Plan Performace and have really good results with it for the coon dogs. Been using it for couple of years now. Have a great dane thats on large breed and has been for 4 years now. Also use the puppy brand for the pups. We really like the stuff. Wish it was cheaper. We just wait for it to go on sale and use our $7.00 off coupons and it's not so bad.

I use the Purina Pro Plan and really like it.. I have finally found one brand of dog food that my dogs don't get food allergies, or effect any sensitive stomachs.. I feed the Chicken and Rice or Beef and Rice.. I have one picky eater who doesn't like Lamb and Rice of any brand.

I raised a litter of pups on the Pro Plan Large Breed Puppy Food and they are all healthy pups and have been from the get go..

It normally sells for about $30.00 for a 37.5lb bag here but they have been having a deal on a 40lb bag for $25.00. I haven't used any coupons yet.. But I will..

I switch to Purina One in the summer when we are not hunting as hard.. And my house dogs get the Purina One Weight Matienance..

Everyone is slick, shiny and better yet.. Has lots of hunting energy.. When they do get burned out.. They recover better then they did on Nutro or Black Gold..

I feed the Pro Plan Chicken & Rice and buy it at Pets Mart. If you get a Pets Mart card it knocks $5.00 off each bag & then with the $7.00 checks from Purina it brings the price down pretty good.

Thanks! I'm a Pro club member and I have fed a lot of Purina food including Pro Plan...and used the checks. I asked at Sam's Club one time and they wouldn't take them at that time. I've never asked at PetsMart. We feed some foods that we buy at Petmart but they are not Purina. Instead of Pro Plan I feed my hounds Members Mark lamb and Rice 26-16. Which is a Sam's Club brand name. I can feed it more economically than I can Pro Plan even with the checks. My dogs didn't like Pro Plan. I don't make mine eat food they don't care for. This food is comparable to Pro Plan on the ingredients list. I have had them on it for several years and it works well for me and my hounds.
