What are your feeling on Rich Rodriguez? I have seen alot of bashing on him since he signed to coach Michigan yesterday. Alot of bitter fans it looks like.

well, he is a good coach that put us in some winning seasons and i am sure we'll get another good en....i hope anyway.

i hate that he's leavin' ....what i hate more is that this wasnt kept quiet until after the bowl game....oh well.

I wasnt real impressed with the timing either. Not sure if I like his style of offense either but, as long as we win with him Ill be ok. lol

I am glad he is leaving. If money is all that he is concerned with then let him go. And don't tell me it is not about the money. Why would you leave a team that is ranked in the top ten for the past three years and has had chances to go to the title game and it is where you always wanted to coach. I was told that is why the players played like crap against Pitt. Pat White didn't even look upset even though he lost the chance to play for the national title. I graduated from WVU two years ago. I was there at the start of White and Slaton. This is the only sport other than college basketball that I still enjoy to watch.

no doubt money WAS a factor or WVU would have tried to keep him....i'd say that MI went way out of our budget...lol...they are spending $4,000,000 just to buy out the rest of his contract....more power to him, i am not going to bash him for getting a better payin' job ...everyones looking for one of those.

the timing of this whole deal is what upsets me the most.

they sure did look like crap against pitt... kicker missed two field goals and had only missed one all season...you reckon they knew already?

I am just as mad as any Mountaineer fan out there, but you have to realize how much money we are talking about! I do not want to hear any bull from Rich about winning a national championship at Michigan. He was set to win one in Morgantown, if he simply would step and say I left my team, fans, and Morgantown for the money I would except it a little easier.

The thing that puts a bad taste in my mouth is how the situation was handled. There is something wrong with calling a recruit and telling him you are leaving before you address your team. I also think that a 15 minute team meeting does not suffice for leaving a group of young men that have worked their butts off to acheive the Mountaineer goal (a national title). I would certainly think the players would have to feel betrayed. I am a high school wrestling coach myself, I certainly do it because I love the sport (not for the money). I treat my team like a group of sons, I have a ton of respect for each and everyone. I certainly think that if something came up that I would have to stop coaching or was taking a job at another school, I would want the 20 young men that sweat and bleed for me everyday to be the first to hear the news from me.

Sorry about all that I just wish coach Rod would have handled it a little different, I have always follwed coach Rod but the trail stops I will not betray WVU to follow a coach (not even Rich Rodriguez). I have made the statement that two sets of fans did not like this move Mountaineer fans and Buckeye fans, look out OSU. Go Mountaineers, bounce back and take out the Sooners!

I really don't think money was "the" major factor!

I think it was more of a power and ego clash! The way he handled it was awful (bailing on his team right before a big bowl game).

I'm now hoping that Terrel Pryor goes to Ohio State (unless he somehow changes his mind and reconsiders WVU or Pitt). He's the #1 recruit in the country, and I've heard some say he's the best they've ever seen.

Maybe we should go after the Appalachian State coach. Three national titles in a row, and beat Michigan.

The reality : WVU has thousands of students that go there for an education, including a very good medical training program. That is far more important, and will have a far greater impact than letting a football coach with a big ego (that represents about 80 student athletes, as long as they benefit him) run the show!

How's it been?? I hate to see Rich go too. But it's the way it happened. Not everything was brought out on espn either. After he come back frome Toledo, he wanted to talk about his contract. Things were left undone from last years. They wouldn't fix them. "Were working on it" Some were very simple.
You know what thats like. You can't please everyone all the time.

I would have to say its two "factors" why Rodriguez left.

1. Money talks (4million)

2. He is known for coaching the spread offensive . Which White and Slayton will be Seniors next year. So it would be hard finding two good players like them to fill in the spot.If the throwing game didnt work he could turn to Slayton or if the the running game didnt work he could turn to White . Or White could run his self.. To confused the defence.. So I guess he was thinking 4million ? and why not start over with new players and his spread offensive and then by 4 years he will have a National Championship
