What To Do If You Bust Your Chistmas Tree Stand

So I was out in the garage pounding the stand into the tree with my 3 lb hammer and I missed the peg and smashed the plastic bowl that holds the water. Not a problem. Took the washer out of the busted bowl and cut the same size hole in a new Purina bowl. Now that's a custom Christmas tree stand!

Todd,

They make ones that you just slam the tree down in the stand and it does all the rest for you No hammering involved, no washers, no screwing into place.

It is ALMOST idiot proof

I hope you butt cut the tree before you put it in the stand. Also, don't forget to water it (unless you didn't butt cut it before hand).

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know how to take care of a dang Christmas tree. I have one of those idiot proof stands but my tree didn't come pre-drilled like the $60 trees you buy in the city. I cut that gem down for $15. Then I had to drill it out myself but I didn't have a drill bit big enough to fit the stand. Hence, the hammer. And it was dark. Hence the broken stand! My only problem this year is keeping the dogs from drinking the tree water! lol

LOL...

... this thread is getting GOOD!
We can't have a real tree at the moment... Construction Nightmares... But Somehwere in storage boxes we have a few sad unused, lonely treedstands. The stories from Christmases past... that they conjure up... Like the one where Some Really bright soul decided to cut the TOP OF THE Too Tall tree off.... to make it fit AFTER it was already in the stand... Oh Yeah... THAT was a real pretty tree....

We've had the same little fake fiber optic tree sitting in the same window...without moving for nearly four yrs now... due to construction. Thanksgiving ends... I walk into the old "dining room"... filled with boxes... and I blow the dust off and plug the tree in! DONE decorating. Each yr for 3 yrs now we have said NEXT yr we'll have a real tree... in a real room... this year NONE of us said it...LOL....
NOW... how do you keep any of your INDOOR hounds OUT of the real trees, that smell like critters...or from urinating on them????

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

Heather and Bob and the William Family

It looks to me like your tree is leaning!! Maybe you should have gotten your eyes checked while you were in Iowa!!!! Maybe then you wouldn't have missed with the hammer!!!!LOL

Heck yes it's leaning. Why do you think I didn't post the pic of the whole thing! I had to prop one corner of the stand up with the phone book to compensate for a crooked trunk and a crappy job of drilling. lol

I'm having visions of a small pine sitting in a purina bowl with a fluffy toy coon with lighted eyes tucked away in the very top. Small plastic critters like grinners, dilla's, yotes, porkys hanging on the lower limbs. Maybe a generous sprinkling of Purina weight circles for snowflakes. Then out of the dark comes a custom Lionel train with Rudolf, RED nose and all sitting on the engine with just a few cars back one of those plastic beagles with a lighted collar on------- I better quit, I'm gonna have bad dreams.

Christmas trees

I am LMAO reading this!! At least you have trees that can pass for Christmas trees. Where I come from we are lucky if the tree has enough branches to hang a couple ornaments on and really lucky if you can get some light on it too! Love the post though. Very ingenious!
