Big Mouth Dogs??????

Tonight I went to feed my dogs, and ole Goober was barking in the kennel, acted like he was winding something. While I was feeding, and cleaning I just opened the door and let him out. He went up on the hill and struck, hit a few licks on the ground and treed!

He sounded like he was just a few yards in the woods, so I grabbed the light, and went to get him. I wasn't wearing a shirt, and just had on a pair of " slippers"; no big deal..he's just a few yards away.

As I started walking that few yards started growing. He hasn't moved: Treed every breath, but he was deeper than I thought.
I realized that this was going to be more than I thought, so do I go back and get a shirt and boots? Nooooooo! Not me. I'm tough, and b-b--b-b-b-b-a-a-a-a-a-d to the bone!

Ended up crossing the creek (in my slippers) and ole Goob was treed in the middle of a briar thicket. Had to get down on all fours and crawl in....briars & thorns everywhere. (No shirt)
By the time I got in and out, I looked like I had run through a screen door and " Strained Myself." I need blood right now!!!!!
I think I'm about a quart low!!!! LOL!

Goober is loud, real loud. He has a big bluetick voice.
I guess the moral of THIS story is that bigger is not always better: OR if you go into the woods WEAR A SHIRT, and BOOTS!

The End

LMBO...

...I've done this sort of thing with my barn... whether it be a Horse thing in the old days or a chicken or hound thing now... I've ended up ruining "good" clothes, shoes, slippers and had to have the Dr remove thorns where I climbed into the briars to "save" a chicken.... Live and Learn! (Yeah Right!)

If you have a hound with a mouth like that I'm sorry but that is SOOO worth all the pain!

Thanks for my morning Laugh with my coffee!

Craig, NOW TELL THE TRUTH.

You didn't finish the story, WHAT DID HE HAVE TREED?????????????

As for wading the creek with slippers on, just remember, it's easier to pour water out of SLIPPERS THAN IT IS HIP BOOTS. LOL

Sounds like ole Goober was ready to go hunting, but you weren't. How old is he????

How's the hunting been there? It has been hot & dry around here. Ponds & creeks are drying up, & I haven't had to mow my front yard for 5 weeks now. My back yard is more open, & I have Bermuda Grass there & i've only have had to mow it twice in that period of time. My 2 yr. female has got the DRUNK STAGGERS twice, in the last month from getting to hot treeing. She is the most HYPER dog that i've ever had, & she sure can not take the heat.

John, If I was lying, I would tell you and that's the Truth!!!! LOL!

Goober is about 22 months old.

It's hot and dry here. The only thing growing in my yard is the weeds. It's been too hot to hunt for me.

B/T/W Goober was treed up a big pine in the middle of that briar thicket. He treed a big ole....It was huge......Man on Man I've never seen such a........ The color was different from anything I've ever......I didn't see anything. Too much undergrowth to see the bottom limbs.

I got a 5 year old male here,Nt.Ch. with two wins towards Gr.Nt.
He is a dang nice hound. He has a real good mouth,he aint the loudest I have owned, but his mouth really carry's.
That sucker has fooled me more times than I can count.Caused me to walk many times when I should have drove around.
I got a 3 year old male here that is just plumb loud.He probably is the loudest dog I have owned. He will really make you think he is closer than what he is.He dang near fooled us the other night, but we outsmarted him and drove around. It was a good thing to because he was only about 50 yards off the other road.I may put him in his first official hunt this month.

Sorry but I have to laugh... Years ago when it was just me and my dogs, 11 miles from anything. My yard dog running loose would wake me on occassion treed. He woke me one night, Me thinking it was just the other side of the hedge row went out in nothing more than boxers. 'Not even slippers'. After realizing he was passed the hedge I also realized he was across the black top road and across the pasture. I trapesed on over and knocked out his little kitten coon, thinking ahh well it's 2am nobody will come by. Well. Soon as I crossed the fence and started into the ditch a car pops up over the hill. Hopefuly it wasn't some city folks thinking "my God, don't look Ethal."

Congrats on his big mouth. Thats what we all hope for.

That is a good story

My boyfriend has been known to go into cat trees in knee deep snow in his camo slippers LOL.. He gets excited and forgets that he is wearing them and his boots are in the truck..

My Brisco dog has a mouth like that.. Most people think the other dogs are not at the tree yet.. Nope.. just not close enough to hear them... And the pup I am hunting out of my Brisco dog can drown his pops out on the tree.... Boy are we going to be in for some unexpected long walks....

Mr. Edwards... That is toooo funny! Here in Arkansas we don't call them "slippers", we call them "house shoes". Don't ask me why. The ONLY time you EVER put your "house shoes" on is when you're going to run outside for "just a second." We all know how that goes. By the time we get through...the "house shoes" are no longer fit to be worn in the house. That Goober!!!

Thanks Micheal. Gave him some meds, and he's back to normal.

Ellie Mae, why would you call shoes you wear outside house shoes? I guess for the same reason you drive on the parkway, and park in the driveway!!

When people ask me about my scratches, and ask me what happened, I just tell them they wouldn't understand.
