Whelping days

I have a female that I bought already breed. The guy told me that she was breed on the 4th of July and she hasn’t had them yet. The man I bought her from said he has had two litters out of her and she has always had them on the 61st day.

She is pretty big and she dropped two days ago and has not had them. She is happy as can be and in good spirits.

When should I get concerned about her having them ?

My female just went 57 days. She had 12, 5 are still alive, those 5 are doing very well.

I have had dogs go anywhere from 56-70 days & no problems. One of the very best ways to tell how soon she will whelp is by taking her temp. For a pregnant gyp the normal range is 100.0-101.0, you want to look for a drop in temp to 99.0 or less. I check my gyp's temp every morning, she is due next Weds. In warm weather or if carrying a large litter, they can go early, BUT don't ever count on it. Last litter Autumn went 2 days overdue & she had 10.

DO THE TEMP. IT'S THE BEST WAY TO TELL.
