To Bench Show and Night Hunt Judges
I'm not sure when the Bench Shows and the Night Hunts became the "events" they are today. When I first started going to clubs and participating in all the functions, it wasn't whether you won or lost, it was "the dog closest to the breed standard", the dog who treed the most "coons" and the dog who could stand on the side of the tree and rack off 60 to 80 barks a minute in the treeing contest. Now, all you hear is about the cheating and the judges that pick cow-hocked or post-legged dogs just because they belong to their "buddies". I have seen way more of that than I care to recently. I don't even like to carry my grandson's to the club anymore because of what they see and hear. The "family" has been deleted from the "family" sport. The sportsmanship that was once a big part of the sport has been replaced with back-stabbing, cheating and lying. The changes have to start at the center of the hunt and bench show. These judges must uphold their titles and do away with the rift-faff or they too will fall on their faces in the end. Honesty has always been the best policy, too bad we don't see enough of that any more. To those who do their best to be the honest judges I commend you, those who don't, I don't want to stand by you during a lightening storm.
