Lance if I had the extra cash sitting around I would try one in a heart beat. Let us know how it goes for you.

I have spoke to Garmin alot lately.

These units can track up to 10 dogs at the same time!!

And store 50 collars in the data base. The transmitter are made to put on the small harness which comes with your system or be put onto any collar!!!

They are gonna be $600 for the Garmin Astro (Tracker) and one DC-20 collar.

They will ship for free!!!!!

Be the first to get one!!!!

There was one on Ebay, may still be there. It was new, around $600.00 or best offer.

I see Bass-Pro is going to have them at the fall hunting classic here in a few weeks but I don't see it working very well. My gps never hardly works when I am walking through the woods this time of year, I always have to carry a compass as backup. My gps is a cheaper one so that could be the problem. It has left me lost in heavy canopy and real foggy nights.

I just got mine and took it out last night. It did a real good job tracng the dog, and after we got to the tree it took us back to the truck. This is an amazing system. I would recmmend getting the cartop antena though. And another cool thing about this system is it tells how far you are from your dog, so you can figure out wich is the best route.

Thanks, Josh Neff

I read the link that Lance supplied. I'm disappointed. The whole system is still dependent on a radio signal between the dog and handler so I don't see any breakthrough here. The way I read it, the only advantage is being able to pinpoint the dogs location on a screen to within about 10 feet. If I'm that close to my dog I shouldn't need a system to find him. I had expected that I'd be able to find my dog anywhere on earth when they finally came out with a gps tracker. For now I think I'll stick with the old tried and proven.

Garmin GPS

I have a garmin GPS Hand held and if this system uses the same tracking abilities, then you can pinpoint your dogs location (via mappping)to within 10 ft.

IMO, if your dog goes way yander, out of hearing, or where other obstructions prevent you from hearing them. I would recommend these systems. I would also recommend this type of system over any other wildlife tracking systems because it shows you where you are on the map, and which way to get out...no more guessing where the truck is.

Good luck
