Michael Vick pleaded innocent to federal dog fighting accusations this afternoon in a federal court in Richmond. Vick was given a conditional release by a federal magistrate until his trial which is set for November 26 at 9:30 a.m.

Vick faces federal charges of conspiring to engage in dog fighting and was one of four people indicted last week. The charges carry penalties of up to six years in prison, plus fines as much as $350,000. Federal prosecutors allege the dog fighting operation operated on Vick's property in Surry County.

U.S. Magistrate Dennis Dohnal released the four defendants without bond. According to the associated press, Dohnal said the judicial system is grounded on the principle that a defendant is innocent until proven guilty "no matter how heinous the allegations may be."

The following conditions were set for Vick's release:

No violation of any laws, including traffic laws
Vick must reside at his primary address, unless otherwise approved by the court
Vick cannot travel outside the United States
Vick must surrender all travel documents
There can be no contact with the others involved in the case
Vick cannot purchase or possess canines or firearms
No excessive use of alcohol
Two of the other defendants will have to wear electronic monitoring devices due to previous convictions. Vick will not. He did have to surrender his Animal Breeder & Kennel license.

Do you find it funny that 4 people were indicted and not 5.

This whole thing started with Devon Broddi (Vicks cousin) getting arrested on drug charges and the police going to the house to search for more drugs and they end up finding the dog stuff.

I would have thought that the cousin would have been the first to get arrested on dog fighting charges, but he wasnt and still hasnt. Yet, we have an informant who remains nameless, identityless and they disguise his voice so he can tell all. Maybe Vick is innocent and it was the cousin who did all this in order to try to black mail vick and vick didnt go for it, or maybe the cousin is the informant and he was trying to beat the drug charges by telling on Vick.

With that many arrested, Vick will walk. One of them will take the heat and have a nice fat bank account when he gets out.

this is what young kids look at as "role models" i think they should be kicked out of Professional sports for ever....

Pete Rose had a little insider betting and was hammered. Some have been found inocent of murder. Vick will walk on all charges.
