GRNTCH. Solid Sam found dead.

We found him under a coon at the base of the tree.He had got treed deep and alone as he always did. This one would be his last.He was owned by Ed Casper of Ohio.Sam was a cut above and will be missed by his owner and all who got the chance to see him go.The Walker breed has lost a good one.
Regretfully,
Tom Thompson

Ed, I am sorry to hear of your loss of a good hound. We had featured Sam on "Every Dog Has It's Day" some time ago. I hope you don't mind but I've put a photo of Sam "treed" on the Coonhound Page in his honor today.

So Sorry for your Loss

What a way to go for a coondog, though. Always sad to lose one but if they go without suffering or without the "decision making process" for their loved ones it is so much "easier". He's up there under the big old tree waiting to reuinite someday with his human family. I hope his memories help you all thru. He left a piece of himself behind for those who loved him and took a piece of you all with him. He will never be lonely or feel pain. Sending thoughts and prayers your way to ease the loss, SIncerely, Heather William

Ed and I have been coon hunting together for some 22 years now, and I know him very well, he had some goods dogs over the years, but this was one his best. He called me first thing this morning to tell me the news, It just doesn't seem fair, he just lost a real good female less than 2 years ago, Hazel placed high in the world hunt, and then died from a twisted stomach shortly after. Now he loses Sam, he does have some nice pups out of him, hopefully they will be as good as their sire. I guess we should be grateful for the good ones we have while we have them. Ed son hunts harder than any man I know, and I know he is pretty upset as well, all I can say is I hope things look better for you soon.

Sorry to hear of your loss

that is the chance you take when you hunt in these temps. I hate to hear of you loosing this fine hound. I worry everytime I cut loose when I summer hunt. I hope you can find one to fill the empty void Sam has left in your heart. Again I am so sorry for your loss. Take Care.

It wasn't the heat, sam was getting hunted regular, and he was in top shape. the temp wasn't even that bad last night, it had rained and was pretty good. He was an athlete of dog, absolutely ripped. He went harder than just about any dog I ever hunted with, and treed his guts out on every tree. he gave 150% on every dump, and it must have caught up with him. Real sad situation

I am very very sorry to hear about Sam. He died doing what he loved best. I have this saying on my computer and wanted to post it for you. It sure takes the energy out of you for awhile when you lose one I know. Keep your chin up. Tommy thanks for posting.
