I've also got a Classic 70 outfit I bought new around 10-12 years ago. I've probably had it repaired by Collar Clinic 2-3 times since then. Recently, the collar got so it wouldn't operate on the high setting and then it got so the next highest wouldn't work.
YOu can buy a replacement battery for your collar from Collar Clinic for $24.95. You can have them repair it for $125. IMO, both options are high and in my experience, about half the time the unit won't even work when I get it back.
So, I looked around and bought a replacement battery off Amazon.com for $12.40, shipped. Changing it amounted to removing 4 screws, unplugging the old battery. Very simple. My outfit now operates, as good as new.
The description of what I bought is:
"HQRP Battery compatible with Tri-tronics 1038100 1107000 CM-TR103 1038100-D 1038100-E 1038100-F 1038100-G Replacement fits Remote Controlled Dog Train"
