Well folks, I have to give credit where credit is due.. I have hunted and raised coon dogs for the past 17 years and have had some pretty good success with my redbones that I have bred and raised myself. My old dog died a couple of years ago and I got out of it all together... I would be hunting a redbone if I could find one that would do what my old dogs would do. But I have had no luck finding one in my price range. I have tried out a couple of English dogs that were started, and several redbones too. I dont mind to spend some money on a good dog. Dont get me wrong. I cant afford to spend 4 or 5 thousand dollars on a coon dog. I'm not saying that some arent worth that much,,, I just wont spend that kind of money on them.. I have never been much of a Treeing Walker man to be honest with you. I have drawn several good dogs over the years but never fed one. In the last year I bought a little rebone female and got back into the hunts again and started hearing about the pups off of Sid and how young they were starting and doing well in the hunts... I messed right around and bought one out of Sid and Stormy's second cross. I will be honest, if I had my choice I would pic a nice blanket back dog with lots of color. But at the time these pups were ready and I bought one. After hunting it just a few times it started treeing hard on hang ups and catching a few possums and treeing them. With my work schedule I just dont have the time to hunt a pup like it needs to be hunted. I called Quincy to tell him how good my pup was going and to see if he knew anyone local who I could pay to hunt my pup for a month or so..... Quincy said he would be glad to hunt him and has kept me up to date on his progress. Well about 2 months later he wanted me to come and hunt with him... Well he was running and treeing hard at 8 months old.... Once he started split treeing from 2 Nite champions and holding pressure (AND HAVING THE COON),, I thought I might try him in a hunt or two... Well we put him in a hunt Friday night and drew 3 nice hounds. Chance took 2nd strike and 1st tree on the ONLY coon scored on friday. He lost the cast to a 4 year old walker female that kept her nose clean all night and never drew any minus at all. Chance had drawn some minus points on our first turn out when the other dogs treed in a hole and Chance was barking up the nearest tree to the hole... We finished with plus points behind the female and if was fair as you can get. On Saturday we put him in another hunt and he struck his own coon and split treed not even 100 yards away from the other dogs and NEVER PULLED ONE INCH!!!! The coon was scored in the other tree and Chance got circled because it was big old den tree...... No folks this is from dog that will turn 10 months old this month!!!!!!! Later on in the night he took first tree on a coon that we had to split the strike points on.. But when the night was over we didnt have enough to win the cast. Guys I'm here to tell you. Quincy and Christy Clayton a two people that I would recomend to anyone... They and good people and I am pleased to call them friends. I have enjoyed each and every hunt we have been on and look forward to lots more... The end result is this......... Sid is reproducing on EVERY female that he is crossed with... It's no fluke!!!!!!! Right now I am hunting a 9 month old pup that I would not be scared to pup in any hunt in the country.. I'm not saying we would win each cast.. But I will guarentee you he will be in the mix and will have his share of coons......... A 9 MONTH OLD PUP THAT WILL TREE AHEAD OF DOGS THAT JUST NEED TO PLACE TO BE NITE CHAMPION..... WILL SPLIT TREE AND HOLD THE PRESSURE AND HAVE THE COON..... WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF THAT?? WANNA FIND OUT????? IT'S SIMPLE..................... BUY YOU A SID PUP!!!!!!!! Anyone that wants to call me and hunt with my Sid pup... 828-275-8896,,, call me and we will pup him with your best or by himself.. Thanks, Mark Reese
