Advice for a 2 month old bluetick

Hey yall my fiance and I recieved a 2 month old male blue tick out of Jet 8, we have begun training him, using coon hides and taking him on hunts. He has done very well going in with the big dogs and mimicking what they do. My fiance introduced me into the world of coon hunting and I fell in love but our schedule dont mesh all the time and I was jsut looking for advice . .not anyones 2 cents . . .on what I need to do and focus on when my fiance Birddawg isnt around . .

PS Mr Danny Glista if you are reading this Im sad to hear that you are leaving the coon hunting world, but I still hope Eric and I can still stay in touch with you and that maybe one day whoever gets Jet 8 will be willing for a lil father son action . . .youve been a blessing in the coon huntin world and you have done more than your share for Eric and I and I thank you from the bottom of my heart . .may God bless you and your family . .for the years to come . . .

Thanks yall . .safe hunting

advice

best advice you can get on what to do with a 2 month old pup....is let him be a pup....he is not mentally or physically ready for goin huntin with hounds...this can cause many more problems than it can help....you cant put a 6 yr old boy out on a court with a college basketball team and expect him to accomplish anything but a distaste for the game....a two month old pup is not ready for anything more than being just that....

Blue Style is right. Try not to do to much with Gator till he gets lets say 5 6 months old. Sometimes its hard to explain but you can bore them to the point that they loose interest. His natural born ability is running through his blood. When he is ready it will shine in him like the full moon does and brighten your hearts and souls. Good luck with Gator and just let him be a puppy for now. Just being around people is what he needs for now. Take care. Danny G. PS, His mother was BBOA and BBCHA high scoring female at the WC. Go BOO BOO

Yes, They are right. Let your 2 month old pup grow up. Following the older dogs will do a lot more harm than good. Wait until he is about 8 or 9 months old before he goes with the older dogs. For now, You can take him to the woods durning the daytime. Let him learn how to get over logs and creeks. Let him learn the scents in the woods. Teach him to come when you call him. These things will help him later is his hunting life.

Teach him to come , sit, stay, etc. This is not the work of a day or two. It takes time and in the process you will bond. Work on leashing as he grows a little and by the time you are ready to hunt you will have a dog that minds better than most kids and is a pleasure to hunt with. As he grows teach him to load in the truck [bribery works great for that] so when the serious training is about to begin all the other stuff is learned behavior and doesn't take up any of your time that should be spent on learning how to hunt.
