You are very lucky. Penicillin allergy is deadly. I think that is why it isn't used as frequently as it used to be, since there are safer(and of course more expensive) antibiotics. We always had to have epinephrine in the barn because it can kill a horse quickly. Glad he made it. Sorry it cost you, but it could have been a dead dog and I'm glad it's not.
Epinephrine is the ingredient a human would have prescribed to them in an Epi- Pen (spelling) for bee stings etc. I imagine your vet can let you know if there are products like that for dogs.
Was the penicillin given BY the vet at the office? Or did you give it at home then bring the pup to vet when he reacted? I am curious to know if the vet realized right away it was allergy to penicillin.
Hope the pup does fine and you don't have to spend Any more extra money!
