Please pray.

I found out late last night that a fellow member of the Sampson County CHA, Travis Mathis had been in a bad automobile accident and had been airlifted to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, N.C. All I know about his condition is that he has a broken back, he is alert and is able to move his toes. Please keep Travis and his family in your prayers. Thanks in advance and I hope you all have a blessed day.

Thoughts and Prayers

From the William family to Travis Mathis, his family and his friends. It is good to hear he is alert and able to move his toes! Having been in a pretty good wreck myself in 97 I always get shook up to hear of one. I fractured my spine when I was 15-MINOR fractures but went on to have a long horse back riding career. Medicine has come MUCH further since 1975 and even a major fracture can be treated well. I hope that Mr Mathis has a speedy recovery and that he will be able to get out into the woods as quickly as possible.
Sincerely, Heather WIlliam

Hank, that is good news. Accidents like this go to show you that you don't ever know when your time on this earth might be over, so it pays to be prayed up with the good Man so in case you or I are not as lucky as Travis, and don't make it thru a bad accident, we will get to spend eternity in paradise. Thanks again for all your prayers for Travis and his family.

Keith, Travis definately had a copilot. From the story I heard the person who pulled out in front of Travis was killed and I was also told that Travis hardly ever wears a seat belt but he had one on yesterday so I know without a shadow of a doubt that the good Lord had a guardian angel riding with him.

I talked to Travis on the phone last night, he is in alot of pain but the doctors don't think they will have to do surgery. He will have to wear a body brace for a couple of months, but it sure is not as bad as it could have been. I want to thank everyone for their prayers for Travis and his family and I would like for you to pray for the family of the people in the other vehicle. One was dead at the scene and the other one had to be airlifted and was in serious condition, so if you would please keep these families in your prayers it would be appreciated.

Update on Travis

Some members of the Sampson County CHA , Greg, Popcron,Eddie,Josh,Tyler and Kayla, went to the hospital to see Travis last night. They said he had good color and he was in good spirits. Travis said he could not feel his left foot and the dr's think it may be coming from a disk. They did an MRI and took x-rays yesterday but they haven't told Travis anything yet. They made his upper body cast and are suppose to put it on him today so that he can stand and try to walk. Travis said it would be at least 6 months before he would be able to go back to work. The other lady that was in the other car is also at Pitt Memorial Hospital in a coma she is 19 and the dr's have given her a 50/50 chance of survival. Travis wants to wish Josh good luck on hunting his dog Tonka tonight at the hunt in Clinton.

Update on Travis

The MRI and x-ray should nothing else is wrong with Travis and the feeling has come back to his foot. They got him in his body cast and he got up and walked with it on they told him he could only take it off when he is laying flat on his back. He called my husband at 8:00 tonight and was on his way home!

Good News!

Glad to hear the reports are so good! Hope he has a quick recovery. I can just see him traipsing thru the woods in the body cast...... (JUST KIDDING!) Hope he can be good about following Drs orders. Once there is no pain it's hard not to over do it.... So obedience is the best thing.

Thanks Jeffrey

I do not know Travis but I do know Jeffrey and I know he is always concerned for the well being of his family, friends, and fellow hunters. Thanks Jeffrey for keeping us informed of this gentleman and being a super friend to all of us. It's good to know that the Good Lord above provides us with good friends like Jeffrey. I'd also like to wish Mr. Mathis a speedy recovery and I know the Lord was with him during his accident and is still with him as he continues his recovery. I also will pray for the young 19 year old lady and her family and the family of the gentleman that did not survive.

On a happier note I'd like to congratulate Jeffrey on the recent 1st Place and High Scoring Dog win with his young hound Samson. Keep up the good work!!

Here is an update on Travis. I talked to Eddie Taylor last night and he told me that Travis was able to get out and ride some. He can't drive but he is able to walk and he can't stand to set in the house so he has his girlfriend riding him around. Thank the Lord he is doing this good so quick after having such a bad accident. Please continue to keep Travis in your prayers, he is still in alot of pain and it will be several months before he is able to return to work and he and his girlfriend are expecting a baby in March so he still needs our prayers. Thanks again and may the Lord richly bless you all.
