a true freind

most of you probably know by now , about the kennel fire we had and loosing all the dogs. well yesterday some of my buddies showed up and brought over some food and goodies.
...they brought dogs so we went hunting. when we quit jim hagen who has had the same strain of dogs that we have had. gave me his favorite young dog that he has been high on for awile. itold him i didn't feel right about taking his dog . he told me that he didn't care about that . hesaid he is yours now. it tore me up to think he would think that much of me to do that. i just can't bring to words how it makes me feal. your a true freind jim.

Jay, you are lucky to have friends like Jim. I really think true coon hunters and what I call dog people will give you the shirt off their back if you need it. Good luck with the pup. Bob

coonhunting community

To some it's a bunch of yahoo rednecks... Go figure. I have seen people who don't even know one another come forward to help in times of need on here. Whether it be prayers offered, emotional support, money to help a kid get a dog transported or an amazing gift like a replacement hound.... I am not surprised in the least by this gesture.
When I first came on this forum and talked about wanting to get into coonhunting again after a LONG time off I had an outpouring of people who offered to help. PMs offering me a pup or a dog or training help. I can't even begin to list the people I have to thank for just helping me WANT to get in physical shape to do this again. Nice thing is they all know who they are, know how thankful I am, my husband is etc...
I hope that your future with this hound and the others you will rebuild with over time will be wonderful. I look forward to seeing some pix of you and your hounds in the future.
Best of luck to you and the people who come to your side during your time of loss and need, HERE'S to Good Friends!
Happy Hunting! Heather

Sounds like a true sportsman and an honorable one at that! Nice to know people are so willing to help. You know the old saying... you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours? I am a true believer that you were deserving of this pup. I wish you nothing but the best in re-building your kennel and line of dogs. Thanks for sharing such a warming story.

I just got back in town, and I did recieve your message. I am very sorry to hear about your hounds. I know it is tough to lose a good dog I just can't imagine losing everything. I am deeply sorry for your loss and if there is anything that I could do to help you, please let me know. Alan Kalal

well we started with 88 walkerdays winner, old grnt ceder hill sass. she was bred to lipper and then came ntch moonshiner's sassy from that cross. we crossed moonshiner's sassy on tar rattler 3 times. and you have probably seen the results from that cross. it was pretty popular back in the 90's. but we have been crossing thes dogs back and forth. we also had 3 0ther sisters to moonshiner's sassy . two of these sissters were also bred to rattler. with that many cousins ,aunts ,uncles ,nefews, and nieces you can do alot of up close line breeding and not imbreed.
...we also have brought in alot of out crosses through the years.
