Any body tried it? Comments? What were you paying for it?

There used to be 20 guys in my area that fed PKC. I fed it for over a year. It seemed to be a real good dogfood but a few older dogs that were eating it got sick and a couple died. What they figured was happening is that the old dogs were lacking something in their diets that they weren't getting from PKC so they began eating foreign materials like their bedding or whatever. My old dog in the house tried to eat a sock, and ate about 2ft of fringe of the edge of the living room rug. The younger dogs seemed fine on it. Most switched to Pzazz and the old dogs had no problems with it. My dad still prefers the PKC but our dogfood guy doesn't carry it anymore since so many switched.

I have been satisfied with it but I wouldn't give it any raving review. For the cost, conveinince, and peformance it is okay. The cost has gone up a bit from my original dealer and I seem to be getting more stool last couple months. It is okay but I'm going to try a few others to see if I can find something better.

Some more options

Have never tried the PKC dog food as it is not available. But was happy with Black Gold. The individual that sold it stopped because of the large amount he had to purchase. So I switched to Purina HI-PRO. Really like it so far. Both brands will have the dogs looking good as well as tons of energy. The Purina does seem to create more pen waste than Black Gold though. Have tried Pzazz and my dogs just didn't do as well on it.

I am feeding Ultra now and my dogs do really well on it. They also seem to really enjoy eating it as well. Coats are almost wet looking and it seems to not take near as much.JMO

The reason i was wondering is we feed it and get along just great. We have been feeding it for several years. But to get the price break we need to buy such large quanity's. If anyone wanted to buy some from southern MN or northern iowa we could see if we could work something out. We could keep our feed that much fresher. email me at cbrigham@smig.net if you are interested in purchaseing.

I am feeding it and like what I have seen and am paying $14.25 a bag then you get the $.50 rebate off the sack and send it in. I have to buy it a ton at a time for that price though.
