i think

for me when its cold out side and moon is full i dont strike as many tracks, i find that if you turn loose on the dark side of the hill you find em, but on the ridges and bright side of the hills you wont find as many. when its warm outside and a full moon i seem to do ok but still not as good as when there aint no moon at all. also seems like to me the tracks are longer and colder like they was out while it was still day light.

Up here in OHIO,lol, I say that because I just know I'm going to get slammed from some folks down south, lol, we don't even bother going out on a full moon. Hard as heck to even strike a single track.

Not as many tracks & alot of dens. my vote went to few tracks, we will hit a few lay-ups. but most trees are big dens.

seems like mostly dens here. We dont seem to have a problem hitting the track, we just have a problem with almost everyone of them ending up in dens or hollows.

Tracks are few and far between...and the ones you do hit seem to end up on a den majority of the times...and sometimes you may tree on a den in these conditions and get lucky enough that the coon is on the outside.

If you hunt while the moon is up, forsure alot less tracks. During the first part of a full moon I will wait and hunt after midnight, and during the last few days i will hit it right at dark.
Wait till the moon is up and has been up for sometime in the begining, and then hit it hard before the moon gets up towards the end.
Never the less, tracks are far and few in between, and ALOT of dens and holes are made.
Also, I know deer have taken the country over, but why on a full moon night does it seem like they are frigging everywhere?

I guess that some on this message board would say,

that I need to get a better coonhound, & they are probably correct???? But I'm like others on here, FEWER (COON) TRACKS & MORE DENS.

Night before last ( full moon) I got one den, and several that just kept going, and going and going. I have a younger started dog, and I think he may have been running the same coon. I heard it bail out once before I got there.

Its a little bit tougher but then here again it boils down to what kind of dog you are hunting. If you have a coon dog, your going to tree coons regardless of the conditions.

MOON EFFECT

HERE IN THE FOOTHILLS OF NC I DON'T HAVE MUCH OF A PROBLEM WITH THE MOON EFFECT BUT WE DO TREE A LOT OF PINE TREES ON MOONLIT NIGHTS. WE CAN USUALLY FIND THE COON BECAUSE IT SEEMS LIKE 75% OF THEM GO TO A PINE ON A NIGHT LIKE THAT! SO WHEN WE TREE A PINE ON A MOONLIT NIGHT-PLUS 'EM UP!!!

fewer tracks, more dens and when they do hit a track take it along ways this time of year around here on bright nights. I used to not hunt much in the summer but the hunting is a heck of alot better if you can find them once you are tree'd!! We have had a time the last couple of weeks. It was raining tonight and we went anyways just to get a break from the moon. Still didn't do any good though.
