lfrisbie, You have some good points. But do you really think I should stop letting UKC know how I feel? I am a little more committed to my beliefs than that. The curs will never compete at the numbers the hounds do. The cur population is just not there!! If every cur owner in the United States attended the hunts you would not see near the numbers participating that you do hounds. Maybe your local club is different but at my club the numbers of curs to hounds is I would guess 50 to 1. We are a charterd Association with the UKC (American Leopard Cur Breeders Association Inc.) I personally have seen no gain supplied by being UKC Chartered. Prior we could register our dogs same as now. We do control the beed standard with UKC but we had our own registration office and did this. I really think UKC did not do their home work prior to starting the cur feist program. Example no strike points when they first started?? I believe they have failed to push the resources needed. I feel they have failed to get a creditable program director for the cur feist program. We charterd with UKC 2 or 3 years ago and have not seen a high ranking official at our events since!! What would this tell you? UKC wants the cur feist program they say but their actions show different in my eyes. The commitment has just NEVER been there. I have mentioned before that a successful promoter of the cur feist program is Claude Thomas. I would like to see UKC contact him and have a visit and get his views on what UKC could do to attract the cur hunters. To simply continue to flounder as they are is not adding credit to the program. If a fellow shows up for a first time and sees after this many years the program still has trouble drawing 1 full cast do you think he will drive to another? I have stayed out of this discussion for a few weeks now. The post I made was a while back. I feel it is like kicking a dead horse but I do like to see others thoughts weather I agree or not as long as they are civil. While I am committed to my beliefs I also like to believe I can still learn a few things and not every good idea has to be mine. Also if you ever get to central Ohio give me a shout. I would like to hunt with a Black mouth Cur. Thanks Perry PS can you honestly say you did not enjoy following that post while it lasted? got locked some how??
