Tips for competition hunters
Would like to provide some tips for those serious competition hunters who take all this way too seriously:
1. Got a mean dog? Leave it home. Too many people are showing up with dogs already written up, and they think that title is so important, they put the lousy pooche back out anyway. If the dog has a mean streak, good chance it will always have it. Do the breed a favor and forget the title, don't stud or breed the foolish animal.
2. Dog don't quite have what it takes, but know the rules good enough to get by? Do us all a favor, give it more time in the woods or just don't show up. No one wants to listen to you whine your way around the rules and complain about every strike and tree just so you can try and get that win.
3. Have some dignity for goodness sakes. Some of these hunts are getting to sound like your average day care center. If you truely have a problem and feel you may not be able to control yourself, feel free to bring a pacifier or a bottle with you because people just don't want to hear it. If that don't work, please feel free to retire. With fewer people like you around, the sport just might attract some new as well as old competition hunters.
4. Stop calling on my dog! You know who you are out there and in a buddy cast, sure you can get away with it but you are still an @ss. If your dog doesn't strike first, take your lumps. They may on the next drop. Oh was it an accident? Tell you what....take your dog, withdraw and scram. If you don't know your dog enough to call it right, you shouldn't be there to begin with. Stop wasting the cast's time.
The showing at many of these hunts are getting a lot smaller because of the foolishness that goes on. The people who fall into the above statements just don't realize that some of us who have seen enough of this crap are not interested in buying from title dogs anymore. It's kinda like Sammy Sosa and the corked bat. The secret is out and now everything is in doubt. Soon it will spread like wildfire and those titles won't be worth the cheap ink they're printed with to those who are looking for REAL coondogs.
I know there will be one of those folks who fall into the above reading this post and I would like ask you to please retire, hang up the light, get lost.....scram! We don't need your type and you are only stinking up a good clubhouse with your presence. Don't ruin the sport for everyone especially the younger generation.
