Do Any of You

Walk your dogs or road them with a Four Wheeler every day or any?

We take out our dogs that show and hunt a few times each week and either go jogging or play ball. Don't know if it does much for the dogs, but we are healthier!

Road them with a bicycle 3-4 times a week, especially this time of year when hunting is sporatic (too hot). Usually about 1 mile per dog.

In the city

my hound gets five miles of leash walking, plus some time playing with other dogs at an urban dog run, every day. In the country, he pretty much goes everywhere I do. He's got a fenced yard to run around in, he goes for daytime walks with me, and he hunts (except right now when its out of season for running hounds until the kits are larger). If we go to events and he isn't off leash much, he gets a walk down the road, too.

I hunt mine 4 nights a week! When it is real hot I just try to pick swampy areas where they can cool off when they need too!

Roading...

I start roading my dogs a couple of weeks before a big show. Otherwise I just swim them and hunt them.

That Depends-

On the weather and the time of year. Late Spring and all Summer the dogs get into the pond to swim two to three times a week, keeps the muscle tone looking good since were not suppose to hunt up here this time of year. In the fall, winter, and early spring months they get enough during there nights of hunting. I also roller blade with them every now and again, Great for the dog and good for the person also. -Angie

If your dog doesn't get enough exercise hunting, you're not hunting enough...

Usually my dogs get their exercise from hunting, but when we aren't getting hunting much i'll take em for a run on the bicycle. I also like to take em swimin in the summer(more to cool em off than the actual exercise).

re

We don't get to hunt too often in the summer because even by water we have lost a dog to the heat. So we try not to hunt them when it is very hot. However about 3 weeks before coon season we will road them up and down the levies.
