Breeding/Linebreeding

Would breeding a female to her grandfather's brother(great uncle) on the mother's side be too close or what?

LINEBREEDING

Grandfather to grandgauhter is not close breeding at all.
Just make sure that they have like trates and most of them are super good.
Brother to sister is as close as you can breed. Not many dogs have good enough trates to warrent breeding this close.
If a brother and sister cross was made all the off-springs should be kept by the breeder until they prove that it is an improvement in the breeding program.

Hey john, you got alot of Real nice studs right there in indiana,, Lot of hoss blood real close to you from the sound of it. I firmly believe that you don't have to drive a cross the country to breed in order to get the pups you want, I know of a stud right here in mt. vernon ohio, that I believe you would be very happy with and his references are pilling up in a hurry. Give me a call some time.

Linebreeding is a great way to help breed for the traits you really like in your hounds, but remember to add some outside blood every once in a while. We were talking to our vet about this yesterday and he said it can cause birthdefects if done too closely, and too often. He gave us this example: Man and woman had a herd of "pet" white-face cows, named them and everything. He would get called out to help deliver calves every so often. Well, fifteen years down the road he started seeing some real weird stuff. One calf was born with six legs, next time one born with one eye in center of its head, and finally one born with two heads, Well, by now he's getting really concerned. He asks the woman have you got a new bull or something? No sir she replied we been using the same bull for fifteen years. LOL. Amy
